PM'd as well. There are at least three FB groups - the "Class of 2017", "Longhorn+" (for students with spouses/families), and "UT Law Housing", for people looking for a place to live, matching owners with renters, etc.

Just got dinged this morning via email (8:47ET). A bit surprising...median LSAT and GPA above median/just below 75th. Strong softs, leadership, LOR, and non-URM. Already have a T14 acceptance. Being out of state definitely hurt. Aw, well..
Best of luck to everyone in this topic!

That sucks. I am learning that it is extremely difficult to predict this stuff and not to take it personally. Hope you get into a school you are happy with.BostonFuse51 wrote:Just got dinged this morning via email (8:47ET). A bit surprising...median LSAT and GPA above median/just below 75th. Did anyone write a "Why Texas?" And if you did, did you send it directly to the school, or somewhere on the LSAC application ?

I didn't, but I think living in Austin and being a UT undergrad made a strong case for my "Why Texas?" in itself.Austinbound wrote:Did anyone write a "Why Texas?" And if you did, did you send it directly to the school, or somewhere on the LSAC application ?

just got dinged this morning as well.
close to the median gpa, 25% percentile LSAT, CHYP education, URM. I'm also not sure if I got viewed as a resident or not…
Good luck to everyone else!

I live in Philly and have never been to Austin in my life lol. I don't know of things are very straightforward in this app process anymore.Attax wrote:I didn't, but I think living in Austin and being a UT undergrad made a strong case for my "Why Texas?" in itself.Austinbound wrote:Did anyone write a "Why Texas?" Yeah, seeing LSN still shocked I was lucky to be admitted. If you come down for ASW (hoping you all get in!) we should do a TLS meetup!OsaroLJ wrote:I live in Philly and have never been to Austin in my life lol. Just got a request to submit a Why UT essay to add to my application, "in light of my non-resident status." Anyone else get this?

I didn't get it, but from my activity in the thread it definitely has been going out to a lot of OOS people.alex.cm wrote:Just got a request to submit a Why UT essay to add to my application, "in light of my non-resident status." Anyone else get this?

Seems like being in-state is a pretty huge deal in light of some of the dings and acceptances.Attax wrote:Yeah, seeing LSN still shocked I was lucky to be admitted. FWIW I'm out of state and accepted straight off. I may be the exception though, not the rule.Instinctive wrote:Seems like being in-state is a pretty huge deal in light of some of the dings and acceptances.Attax wrote:Yeah, seeing LSN still shocked I was lucky to be admitted. They had to know they were letting me in. They wanted to be sure you got to meet me

But you have really good numbers, so I wasn't surprised to hear you got in.

Re: Texas c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I was accepted last Wednesday, but they said they mailed my packet Monday (status checker later updated to show I was actually admitted on Monday), and got the packet on Friday of that week.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
