Thank you for the well-wishes and congrats on your decision to re-take. You're making the right choice. It isn't fun, but a month or two of work(assuming June retake) could make a lifetime of difference. It's a worthy trade-off. Good luck!nmm10e wrote:Nucky wrote:That's a great GPA. Why don't you retake? Another 5-7 points would make a world of difference for you. Each school you applied to would likely offer you a substantial scholarship with a 160-162+.nmm10e wrote:still in CRaccepting the inevitable WL/Ding that is on the horizon
You both are right-- I really should retake. I did an academic addendum for all the schools I applied to, but I will seriously contemplate a re-take. I, along with most of you I'm sure, absolutely dread the thought of the LSAT
OH, ANDDDD: congrats to all those getting their letters, I really am happy for you & really hope to be in your position eventually haha

I was accepted in December and finally got my scholarship info: $39k total (FL resident), which is just $3k shy of what UF gave me. Not too shabby.

My apologies if this question was already answered, but on what timeframe do prospective students usually (1) visit the school, (2) find an [affordable] apartment (3) sign the lease and (4) move in an get comfortable before starting law school?

^Also interested.
December 9 admit, still waiting on Scholarship information. Do they let you know even if you're not getting anything?

Finally received acceptance packet. Hoping they offer enough money to make this a legit option. Would love to attend and work in FL.

I'm not sure where a source is...but it's probably true. I just graduated from UF endergraduate (attended 2009-2013) and they raised tuition by 15% each year, I believe, the maximum allowed in Florida. I had 12 credit hours in 2009 at $1761, $146.75/hour - and 14 credit hours my final semester at $2922, or $208.71/hour.itachiuchiha wrote:I remember reading something in last years thread about possible tuition increases at UF. does anyone know anything about this? In that same time, TLS says UF Law was at 14,227 in 2009. It's now at 22,181. Chances are, the price will go up while attending...sadly.

How would you say your experience was at UF? any positives /negatives, how are the job prospects? Thank you!rdelaney wrote:I'm not sure where a source is...but it's probably true. I didn't mean to mislead, I meant undergraduate...I edited my post to reflect that. The university overall is great, nice facilities, great weather (when it isn't raining), and Gainesville is a nice town (relatively safe, easy to navigate, just pretty boring). If you didn't get the vibe already, the university itself is pretty pretentious and full of itself...which is a down side. I haven't had many run-ins with the law school staff besides a tour, but I feel it is different there as many students seem happy with their choice and professors.

I visited the campus yesterday. My first question is about parking. A woman at the admissions desk said that there would be absolutely no problem finding a spot, and that I would not need to take the bus. I find this hard to believe. Can anyone comment on this? I heard from someone else that buses run every twenty minutes, but that you may need to take two buses to actually get to the law campus (which would suck). Second question: is there much of a nightlife in gainesville? I went to FSU undergrad, and Tally has so much more of a city feel. Gainesville seemed so spread out.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

The law school has dedicated parking. You'd have to buy a commuter decal, which is only available to graduate students. I can't vouch for if there would be no problem finding parking, but I feel like she's probably right. You should check out parking.ufl.edu, they have a map of parking nearby, which is quite a bit.SailorMoon9543 wrote:I visited the campus yesterday. My first question is about parking. Nightlife in Gainesville is pretty much either downtown or in midtown. Tally probably has a better nightlife. Midtown is across from campus, convenient if you live close. As for busses, there is one bus that drops off in front of the law school...I'm not sure what number it is though. If you're going to live far enough away from campus, I would just get a parking decal.
Also, it's funny you think Gainesville is so spread out. I think Tally is so spread out. It just takes some getting used to.

No problem! If anyone has any questions about Gainesville or the University in general feel free to PM me or anything. I still live in the area and went to undergrad here. I just put my apps in this week, just got my Feb LSAT score back. Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard back yet!
