Gasp: Do you guys just not want money? I love money.

Named / special program scholarships aren't the only forms of aid though! Also it's better to skip the essays than force an essay trying to invent ways in which those special programs are a fit for you (at least, that was my reason).

That was my reason as well.

Personally I'm not crazy about the idea of being financially obligated to a particular career path.

I seriously considered the Root Tilden Kern because I know that I eventually want to do public interest work. But in the end, I felt that the requirements were a little too rigid for me.

At least everyone is going through the same thing and this has happened in previous years. It would be so much worse if people were getting acceptances while the rest of us were in UR status.

Same here. NYU is looking like my #1 choice right now woohoo so excited. Don't qualify for Butler/Hamilton at Columbia so have to kill it on these essays. Would love to be in NYC for law school!!!!!!!!!!
