In all honesty, I'm not sure how I'd handle game days if I were to attend Bama. I suffer serious PTSD from the clobberings y'all have dealt us in the recent past.

Do you guys think that we are witnessing the result of a lack of withdrawals? I myself threw in the towel a month ago, but I would love to start a healthy discussion and get some theories on the absolute lack of movement. I find it fascinating.

That would be my guess. But since Bama's deposit is only $100, a lot of people pay it and withdraw later on once they've heard from other schools.2012Lsatscore wrote:Do you guys think that we are witnessing the result of a lack of withdrawals? I haven't been paying attention to the T-14 this cycle. What is the movement like with them? Do you think that is a factor at all?TEXAS91 wrote:That would be my guess. I'm guessing it's a lack of withdrawals. Bama recruits hard once you've been admitted. I'm sure the jump in US News ranking and their employment numbers don't hurt, either.2012Lsatscore wrote:I haven't been paying attention to the T-14 this cycle. What is the movement like with them? I'm still waiting on an acceptance from Alabama and SMU, had to make a deposit today to another school though. Hoping at least one of my top choices gets back to me soon, Alabama sent me an email giving me a MyBama account so I don't know if that goes along with movement on my application or what.

I called today and they said their committee was aiming to have all decisions out by the end of May. True story. I was literally at a loss for words. The lady I spoke with was very kind, but with all my deadlines Monday, hearing that was a total arrow to the knee.

Yeah, Baylor's is tomorrow so I made a deposit there but would much rather have Alabama or SMU. Just have to wait and hope for the best for both schools. Waiting until the end of May would be terrible though.gatorgirl2012 wrote:I called today and they said their committee was aiming to have all decisions out by the end of May. True story. I applied right before the February LSAT, but due to transcripts being screwed up it went Under Review finally on March 22nd. Hopefully the MyBama account was a positive sign, I'm sure hoping so.dstars823 wrote:when did all of you guys apply?

I applied mid January. I also received the my bama account info but never really did anything with it. Will activating it demonstrate interest?! Lmfaodstars823 wrote:when did all of you guys apply?

Not to sound like a ignorant northerner, but is the mybama account the email address and everything? If so, i received that shortly after applying and have been PFCD since december/january.gatorgirl2012 wrote:I applied mid January. That's when they send out the wait list notifications. In the past, they started rejecting in April though. So, we could start seeing them weed out the bottom end.gatorgirl2012 wrote:I called today and they said their committee was aiming to have all decisions out by the end of May. True story. Looking at LSN, there was a wave of acceptances on April 11th last year. If you factor in that everything seems delayed for this cycle, I'd say we see movement by the end of next week. I'd guess that they have a higher than usual percentage of admits put down a deposit due to the rankings boost, but it's still a southern school with a smaller class and with applications down so drastically at most schools, they're still going to lose a significant amount of their admits after 4/15. I'm not losing hope yet, but I'm also certainly not holding my breath for a decision.2012Lsatscore wrote:Do you guys think that we are witnessing the result of a lack of withdrawals? That said, it's an awesome school at a reasonable price, I think that gives them the right to take a while making decisions!
I've been pending final committee decision since 1/7 with an update on 1/25; complete since mid-November. I'm not ready to anoint them as this year's W&L quite yet. But if next week comes and goes...
Good luck!

WUSTL also claimed to have a "record" amount of apps this year. I think I remember someone saying in the W&M thread that their apps are up too.dstars823 wrote:they might be the only school in the country other than T14s where app count was not down

Re: University of Alabama c/o 2016
The effect of applications decreasing on the whole is still likely to affect even those schools who are experiencing increased applications (like Alabama, Wash. U., W&M, & c.). Medians overall will drop, more scholarship money will be offered, and it will be really unlikely for any one school to have had such an improved applicant pool that they aren't affected by the overall trend. I'm not saying Alabama can't increase or hold median while expanding class size, but the tide is pretty strongly against it.
