Did you get that via email? I ask because I think we received our KB2's on the same day (12/22).

Thanks.
Tom, if you look under Biographical information box in your status checker, you should see that your primary email's been changed to [some combination of your first initial and last name]@jd15.law.harvard.edu. I don't have log-on credentials or log-on instructions yet, though. 12/22 KB2 here.

I just booked my flight for ASW! So excited! Where is everyone staying? I'm looking at hotels and the ones right next to Harvard are pretty pricey. Is anyone else considering staying a little farther away?

Also, for those of you with access to the Admitted Students page, is there any necessary information before I book a hotel? How about parking if I decide to rent a car?

Haha, thanks for any info you have. Prices are pretty good now so I'd rather not wait for my packet to book everything.

Do we need to formally sign up for ASW? Is it possible for one or the other day to be overbooked? I haven't gotten my admissions packet yet but I want to book my flight ASAP...

About this: I was originally planning on staying with a buddy in the area or whatever, but would be totally down to split/share a hotel room with someone. The Sheraton Commander (literally 2 minute walk from HLS) runs about $150 a night, so it shouldn't be too bad if 2 people wanted to share?

I have status with Starwood (which owns Sheraton) so I could get an upgrade to a bigger room, which might fit even more people. I know most of us are past our cramming-into-hotel-room days but it still sounds fun! :D

Parking info is listed as followed for ASW: "Because parking in Cambridge is extremely limited, we strongly encourage our visitors to use public transportation. However, if you must bring a car and need to purchase a parking pass, you should do so in advance at the Online Harvard Parking Permit site" and there's a link to that.

You have to register for ASW but the link won't be available until late January, when I presume we'll have specifics on the schedule.

Thanks for the info, annyong and curious1. I'm a little worried that I jumped the gun with booking my flight. I really hope I am able to sign up for the March ASW, otherwise I guess I'll just be crashing it :)

How long did it take post-admission to receive that?

Also, checking in.
Well, I had my KB2 on 12/22 and didn't see the @law email address until a few days after New Year's - probably on or around 1/4. But of course they were closed for a week or so in there.

I thought that for the ASW Harvard would be able to set us up with room & board on campus?

Definitely not board, bar a lunch or two. Rooms with current students are possible I think, but limited?

Yes, I think I remember a current student saying that he stayed in a vacant room at North Hall during ASW. I don't remember hearing that availability is limited, but that's likely the case; it's difficult to imagine Harvard having enough space to accommodate everyone.

So far our FB group is 23 females to 13 males. I'm kind of baffled by this...does this prove women are more neurotic and are more likely to stress on sites like TLS? No offense of course, it's just an interesting phenomenon, and I'm probably the most neurotic out of everyone :?

But, come on guys, we need to represent.

Perhaps our FB group has a greater female to male ratio because there were an abundance of highly qualified, intelligent females that applied this year?

(I know what you mean, of course )

Well I've decided on the March ASW, and will probably buy my plane tickets as soon as I'm absolutely sure that the weekend will be possible. This means I will be flying out on Wednesday to a different city for a conference-ish thing on Thursday then heading from there to Boston on Friday then back home Monday...whee! If I'm a stress ball when anyone sees me at ASW...well...I guess I'd just be providing support for Curious's assumption :P

Well, unless you look like Buster, no one may notice you, haha. Which brings up a good point. Should we all switch our avatars to our faces pre-ASW...or change our faces to look like our avatars? Hmmm...

Oh God, I hope no one confuses me for Buster...and thanks to the facebook group, most names can be connected to faces if need be. Plus, I think we all owe Curious a dragon bowl, or something with dragons and alcohol, I forget.

That would be a Scorpion Bowl (because I predicted the first round of KB1s!!) and please only one...although even then I think the effects would be too much and I may start acting questionably, like how I started reciting from the Bible on New Year's Eve.

We definitely SHOULD do some kind of meet-up at ASW either way...how best to coordinate...

INTERESTING to everyone? I asked KB during my interview which ASW she recommended and how they were different. She said substantively they are the same but that they are very different in how they feel. She said April elicits more pointed questions from students because people are closer to making a firm decision. However, my feeling is that March might have more of the "gunners"/early submitters and earlier admits as opposed to holds and WL'ers...in other words the people who might tend to be more motivated? So, I'm leaning toward March for that reason and also because I think it might work for my schedule more.

I am interested to hear what others' reasoning is for attending March vs. April.

I don't think there will be a shortage a gunners either way. This is Harvard after all.

I'm going to both :D
