Re: University of Washington c/o 2015
Anyone happen to know if those of us who wrote CF addendums need to send a dean's certification letter to UW? My application is incomplete even though all my checklist items are checked...

I did write a c&f addendum and my application went complete without requiring a dean's certification. So gotta be something else, if its been a long time you should contact admissions.

For the people applying out of state and are not familiar with WA politics - apparently the budget cuts in education this year is going to have some effect on the admissions process such as admitting more out of state students to make up for the loss in state money for in state students. The law school is not excluded from this, so whatever "in-state advantage" that might have been present in past cycles is probably not going to be a factor anymore.
My source for this is one of the UG professors at UW who knows some of the law school faculty. Obviously not a direct source, but its better than just pure speculation.

I would honestly be happy to pay three years of out of state to go to UW.fosterp wrote:For the people applying out of state and are not familiar with WA politics - apparently the budget cuts in education this year is going to have some effect on the admissions process such as admitting more out of state students to make up for the loss in state money for in state students. I am URM and I think that I had very good letters of recommendation and personal statement. I'm happy to see that it is not only about numbers. Good Luck!Observant_Poster wrote:Congrats!!! Was looking through past applicant on LSN and it seemed as if no one recieves scholarships. Does UW rarely hand out scholarships?

Do we think 3 days of classes canceled will affect the Admissions decisions? I'm still IR 11/17

Seattle has had a snow storm, but now its icy on the roads so they don't want people driving.YankeeFan2 wrote:Why were/are classes cancelled?NYDCKid2014 wrote:Do we think 3 days of classes canceled will affect the Admissions decisions? I'm still IR 11/17

It wasnt just a no-school day, it was a no one come to work that isnt essential day. So I would bet that will put a 3 day delay on everything. But whats 3 days when you have 8 weeks for a decision

They won't respond. You can log in from a different computer and then in a couple of days you can try clearing your cookies, cache and history and try again.Observant_Poster wrote:Same, I sent an email to the webmaster regarding it but haven't had a response.

It is legitimately messy out here today, and I'm from Wisconsin. Seattle overhypes a lot, but it is actually dangerous to walk around the U District because NO ONE HERE SEEMS TO HAVE HEARD OF SHOVELS AND/OR KITTY LITTER.No13baby wrote:FTFout-of-statersNYDCKid2014 wrote:Seattle has hadYankeeFan2 wrote:Why were/are classes cancelled?NYDCKid2014 wrote:Do we think 3 days of classes canceled will affect the Admissions decisions? Ha! True. But seriously, we only have like 4 snow plows for the entire city and its all hills. There is something magical about an entire city taking a snow day, though.JoeMo wrote:Seattle has had a snow storm a couple inches of snow, but now its icy on the roads so they don't want people driving degenerated into unwarranted pandemonium.

Oh, completely true. The snow would be no problem at all if we could adequately prepare for it, and there are some streets (Queen Anne Ave, etc.) that nobody sane would use in the snow. But I think it's funny how much people freak out over an inch and a half.akakak wrote:Ha! True. But seriously, we only have like 4 snow plows for the entire city and its all hills. I got waitlisted 2 weeks back. Just called to see if it is ranked. Evidently they throw all the waitlists into a pool which they start reviewing after May 31st. If you're on the waitlist and hope to get in, get comfortable, we'll be waiting a while.

I must be having a weird literary moment because the "throw all the waitlists into a pool" immediately conjured up a vivid image of applications falling into a mess of a pile in the middle of a field. May 31 is incredibly late though!portaluser wrote:I got waitlisted 2 weeks back. Just called to see if it is ranked. That's horrible. I think I'm doomed to the WL, but am leaving the country in early June for 2 months. Kind of need to know when I need to be back for orientation. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed for a firm decision.fltanglab wrote:I must be having a weird literary moment because the "throw all the waitlists into a pool" immediately conjured up a vivid image of applications falling into a mess of a pile in the middle of a field. Re: University of Washington c/o 2015
The problem with the snow storm is the region is inadequately prepared to deal with it (sanding roads, snow plows, knowledge on how to drive in snow, etc). Not to mention half of the puget sound losing its electricity for 3+ days because all of our utility lines are above ground.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
