Re: Hofstra 2011
Hello,
Im sort of late to this thread. Seeing that many folks have already been accepted. I am still on the waiting game, anxiety level high with quite a few factors working against me. My undergrad GPA is a sad 3.14 I was working 40+ hours and still taking a full course load. ( Sorry, parents could not afford to even pay for my books
) o well that is my reality. I took my Lsat without much preparation and received a 148 this past December. I am not opposed to taking the test in June and applying for Fall 2012 with a prep course and more time. But I figured I might as well give it a shot. I am currently pursing a graduate degree with a 3.7 gpa, and wanted some advice on whether or not anyone with similar credentials got in to Hofstra. I know not the BEST school for anyone planning on bashing the school, but it works for me. I am a urm female not sure if that matters but what does everyone have to say about this? Any constructive non- cut throat advice is helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think I've ever said this before, but retake. I think schools are more willing to look past a low GPA (esp. when there's reason for it, which you'll address in essays/personal statement) than low LSAT, especially sub-150. But they need something to balance a low UGPA, and LSAT is the thing to do it. Study for the next four months (I just bought some books, I didn't take a prep course) and see how you do in June, then re-evaluate law school possibilities.

Re: Hofstra 2011
Thank you,
I think I am heading that direction. Some Tier 4 schools accepted me but I rather not take that route. I strongly believe I could get way above a 155 because I practically took the test cold, I simply had no time to study . . . bad mistake. Who knows may be I get lucky this round but I much rather put in the extra work and lose 365 days then see my whole future go down the drain because I attended a Tier 4 school as a last resort. ughhhh the sad reality of this process. who knows maybe with a 160 I have a shot at Fordham . . . my dream school. A gal could dream no?

Re: Hofstra 2011
Well I took a diagnostic test before my LSAT course and got a 147. Practice is everything when it comes to LSAT prep. I got a 164 on December's test. I think I could have done better too, I was just so giddy during the final section because I knew I had a pretty good score locked up.supernervous wrote:Thank you,

I'm sure you'll do at least as well if you study like crazy and retake in June or October.

Thank you for the hope and inspiration! Congrats on your score. I think its time to kiss law school admission for 2011 goodbye and start the nightmare of LSAT "real" prep !I am content with that.

Anyone get the e-mail about an admitted student regional dinner? I'm contemplating going to the one in San Francisco on Monday just because.

Re: Hofstra 2011
Hey guys, just got accepted with 25k scholarship with top 40% stip. Is it worth going to Hofstra with that kind of scholarship? How good (or bad for that matter) are the job prospects? If I had to choose between Hofstra 25k a year and Cardozo at sticker, which should I choose?
Thanks!

Is Hofstra considered a peer school with: st john's, rutgers-newark, seton hall, and brooklyn?

Re: Hofstra 2011
I would normally say no because there is a significant gap in the rankings. However, this year's decrease in applicants may make all of those schools compete for the same high 150s low 160s.

Anyone planning on going to the ASD on the 18th and 19th? I think with that kind of money I'm definitely going to have to check it out.
