No mention of scholarship offers in my acceptance mail, which is a an absolute must for me to consider the school.

Just got in a week or two ago.
For Valentine's day, USD gave me 16K for the first year, but stipulated it was only for the first year. Does anyone know how the later year scholarships work? Based solely on 1L grades?
Stats

I believe USD generally provides the stipulation that they can be renewed your second and third year if you stay in XX% of the class. Did yours not have that kind of language in it?weilchild2 wrote:Just got in a week or two ago.

I got nothing in the acceptance package, but I assume this is because I was in review for 3 days before being accepted. Still waiting on scholarship.sabenser wrote:Acceptance package for mebb8900 wrote:Does this school send scholarship info randomly?

also-- are there any 1/2/3Ls in here? or does anyone know of any that are still on TLS? i'd very much like to pick someone's brain about their experience, where most people live, OCI/job prospects, etc etc...

I don't know about on TLS, but I wonder if the admissions office couldn't connect you with a few current students if you asked?

Re: University of San Diego 2011
I was accepted before Thanksgiving (164/3.7) and I haven't heard anything about scholarships. I called this afternoon and spoke with the financial aid office. The lady who answered was very polite, but seemed confused. I told her others with similar numbers were receiving offers. She told me to wait until March and call again.sully wrote:Accepted a couple months ago, but still no scholarship info....anyone in the same boat?

that seems strange-- i think i'd probably try calling back and speaking to someone else. my numbers were pretty much exactly yours (gpa .1 lower) and i got mine already, despite having applied mid-jan. sounds like maybe she didn't know exactly what she was talking about...toster19 wrote:I was accepted before Thanksgiving (164/3.7) and I haven't heard anything about scholarships. Is anyone planning on attending the Orange County-area alumni and admitted students reception on March 1st?

Re: University of San Diego 2011
Hey all, I'm a current 1L, so if you have any questions, I can try my best to answer them if you PM me (I don't get on TLS that often anymore, but I'll respond when I can!).
FWIW, I applied last December, was accepted in January, and received my scholarship information a few weeks later in February. With a 161/3.56 at the time of my application (graduated in May 2010 from a T20), I was initially only offered $15,000 for the first year. I sent them an e-mail saying I could just go to a comparably-ranked public school in my home state for the same price, and the next week I received a revised scholarship offer for $15,000 for all 3 years, provided I stay in the top 50%. So for those of you that are not happy with your scholarship terms, it's definitely worth writing them to ask them for more/to get rid of the % requirement/to extend it for all 3 years. Just make sure that in your letter/e-mail you express a genuine interest in USD.
In general, USD has been a great experience so far. The professors are great, and I really like my classmates. Law school is a ton of work, but if you are smart and you work hard, you will do well. And if you're not from San Diego, it's a great place to live!
