Also accepted early December and have yet to receive any scholarship info. I am above both medians as well.jayman6 wrote:I was accepted 12/6. Still no scholly info. Anyone else accepted in December (beside the merit scholars receiving full rides) receive a scholarship offer? I'm above both medians so I think I'd get something, but who knows.

Re: IOWA 2011
FWIW, last year I was accepted around February and didn't get scholarship award until late May. This was after being told numerous times that there would be no more scholarships awarded. I also didn't even have competitive numbers to receive a scholarship, to be honest.
So yeah, moral of the story is keep your head up. Iowa is pretty well known for being generous with scholarships, especially for a public school.

I just submitted my LOCI. Fingers crossed that I don't have to wait until August.

What do you think are my chances?
Emory Alum 3.73 GPA
LSAT(thinking low 150s ---will find out in a few days)
Peace Corps Volunteer
Program Assistant for human rights NGO in west africa
Hispanic.
Iowa resident
Fluent in spanish, french, and novice in Bissa
I am really hoping I get in. I am only applying to Iowa this year because I suck at taking the LSAT and if i dont get, i will take a year off and try to bump up my score. God this is torture!!
also, normally how long does it take between the time you submit your application til the time you receive notification? Also, I know my LSAT score blows, even so, would i be completely out of the running or a scholarship? Thank you in advance.

does everyone get preliminary waitlist?
i went on the preliminary waitlist the day i went complete (no in review)--it was also like a day after i submitted my app.
i have an LSAT in the 170s so i am confused as peer schools gave me large schollies.

Jayman, I was accepted early Dec. and haven't got anything yet. I'm above and at the medians so I'm in a similar boat, it seems. Hope that helps.

Re: IOWA 2011
I was accepted early December and also have not heard anything regarding scholarships. I'm substantially above both 75ths and am an Iowa resident so I am definitely hoping for a large scholarship. I think it's pretty safe to say that only one group of scholarships have gone out. Maybe the admissions office is a little behind/overwhelmed this year. It's probably a good sign that none of us have heard anything. Here's hoping it comes soon!

I sent my app on 11/5 and went Complete 11/10 but I'm still there. Kinda surprised that I haven't gone under review/prelim waitlist yet. Anyone else been waiting this long? Numbers are 3.5/160, btw.

Re: IOWA 2011
why would they give me a fee waiver with no intent of reading my application? seems like a pointless marketing ploy. being waitlisted makes me no more likely to attend. they knew my LSAT score before i applied, and they encouraged me to apply in subsequent e-mail convos.jaydizzle wrote:They probably don't think you will go so did that as a form of yield protecting.justadude55 wrote:does everyone get preliminary waitlist?

Were they computer generated emails? I got a fee waiver with much much lower stats. This does not mean anything at all. Schools love to make their selectivity appear to be high. If you really want to go or get much just send them an LOCI quickly saying you are interested. With your credentials they would probably immediately admit you at that point.

I am another 170+ on the preliminary wait-list. Glad to see I am not the only one, at least. If this is YP, I must say well done, Iowa.

Re: IOWA 2011
Is Iowa really known for YP? (I haven't looked at LSN as I'm in the middle of nowhere without computer access) I was waitlisted (held, but close enough) at Georgia, where I think my numbers are fairly high, but I've chalked it up to they probably just don't like me that much....

Re: IOWA 2011
fyi: i was accepted in late november. called admissions and asked for information regarding scholarships. the woman i spoke with told me that if i emailed a request to have a scholarship decision expedited they would do so. i made the request. i received an email back stating that i would get a decision in approximately ten days. ten days came and went. i sent another email to the same individual asking for an update. she stated that she was sorry that they did not have a decision and that they would provide an answer in mid-january.

Just checked my status checker today and I was admitted. Pretty excited as Iowa was one of my top choice schools.
No email or anything though, hoping to receive more in the mail soon.

What kind of Hispanic? If a URM-version of Hispanic, LSP has you at Weak Consider. If a non-URM, LSP has you as Reject.bbermud wrote:What do you think are my chances?
