Hey, Question.
How long were u guys in review via status checker? I've been in review for 2.5 weeks. Is that normal for Kent? Good/Bad?
Thanks for any thoughts!

If it says you're in the "final stages" of the review process is that a good sign, or am I overthinking it?

I was admitted on 3/11, but they forgot to tell me? Weird. I should check my status checkers more often.

I've been in review since 3/07, FYI. Does anyone know if you're waitlisted at Kent if you have the opportunity to indicate that you would also like to be considered for the PT program too? DePaul gives you this option if you've been waitlisted with them, that's why I ask...

Yeah. I was a little surprised because I have solid full-time work experience and great LOR's. I'm the same username on LSN. (GPA is 3.34, not 3.5...for what it's worth)

Re: Chicago Kent - Prospective Class of 2014
So I noticed that Chicago-Kent moved up quite a few spaces in the the USNWR rankings. I also read a lot of stuff of the internet calling it a TTT. I think the whole TTT concept is dumb but there does seem to be merit to the fact that Kent grads are regionally competing against two T-14 schools and a few T-25s. Plus Kent seems to be regional.
Just curious what y'alls thoughts are on the rankings moving up and also was wondering if anyone knew about Kent's technology law/IP offerings.
Congrats to all that have gotten in and good luck to everyone waiting!!

Deferred
Can't say I'm not disappointed, but what can you do? Suck it up, appeal, and if it's not meant to be, there's a better option for me.

Re: Chicago Kent - Prospective Class of 2014
I was just offered full a ride for all three years with no stipulations; can someone provide me with more information about Chicago-Kent's placement and how it compares to Loyola? Has Kent placed in NLJ Top 50 Go to Law Schools in the last three years?
Although I received a similar offer from IUB, I want to practice in Chicago, so I am intrigued by the idea of matriculating at a Chicago law school at no cost.

I was offered a full ride back in December with stipulations and withdrew my application with a comment that I might have considered it if there were no stipulations. May be they took it into account : )columbia86 wrote:I was just offered full a ride for all three years with no stipulations; can someone provide me with more information about Chicago-Kent's placement and how it compares to Loyola? Re: Chicago Kent - Prospective Class of 2014
I'm accepted to Loyola and Kent, columbia86. Though, as of now, I'd be paying full at Kent. I did receive a very nice $ offer from Loyola, so that is the tie-breaker for me as of now. I'm pretty sure that that's rational. Kent and Loyola, as I've determined ... give you the same shot. In general -- same placement statistics, same cost, same reputation, rankings are about the same, and on and on and on. What is your $ situation at Loyola? If it's nowhere near Kent's full-ride, take the full ride.
Though, you said you received a similar offer from Indiana. Do you mean a full ride?? If you got a full ride there, I'd certainly go there. Rankings, of course, are in lot of ways -- most ways -- meaningless among peer schools. But a difference between 71 and 23 is significant, no question.
I am waiting to hear back from some big name Midwest schools, which might include Indiana's
If you look at the NLJ Top 50 ... Kent and Loyola are both on it at the bottom. If you're top 10% you should be sitting pretty. Congrats on getting these offers, and best of luck. Maybe we'll turn out to be classmates at one of the Chicago schools.
Or Indiana if I'm lucky. You can buy me a drink in honor of my huge monthly payments upon leaving law school and your freedom from debt!

Anyone accepted and considering living in Tailor Lofts? the "recommended housing partner" lol..they look nice, convenient and cheap to me at least...but still waiting on my top choice school, if not accepted, then I'll still be happy at Chicago-Kent

I visited and toured Tailor Lofts and definitely thought highly of it. At one point, I was under the impression that choosing Kent and living at Tailor Lofts is a deeeeal. However, I've decided that if I choose Chicago-Kent, I'd want to live, most likely, in a different area of Chicago, especially without a car, than that particular spot. Being within walking distance of a school definitely means something. But so does living in a vibrant area of Chicago that would increase the quality of life and happiness.

Whereabouts have you been looking? My wife and I have been looking from Lincoln Park up to Wrigleyville. I haven't really heard good things about the west side of town and haven't heard much of anything about the south side.Philosopher1 wrote:I visited and toured Tailor Lofts and definitely thought highly of it. I'm a fan of somewhere near the Gold Coast, Magnificent Mile, River North, etc ... like right where Loyola is located!! Hahaa. The problem with the areas I'm describing is the expensiveness. Though, if you can cut some kind of deal, then good. I'm trying to find good deals now. Pretty difficult to pull off.
The two areas you described are perfect, as well. And if you can get them on the cheap, then that's even better. Wrigleyville and Lincoln Park both are great. Any of those places work. I'm not the biggest fan of the West or South side of Chi. That's way over generalizing, of course. It's all about East and North!
However, to each his own. So you're going to go to Kent? Where are you in the decision-making process? I love the idea of Kent, though as of now, there isn't much of a debate w/ a certain amount of niice $ offered from Loyola and none from Kent. We'll see how everything plays out, as I'm working on that issue.
Edit: Replying to towkthi

Pretty much everything looks like Kent right now. They made me a very good offer and it makes sense on a personal level (connections in the Midwest) not to mention I've heard good things about the school, employment prospects not withstanding. I have about two small chance scenarios that don't put me in Chi-town next year.Philosopher1 wrote:I'm a fan of somewhere near the Gold Coast, Magnificent Mile, River North, etc ... like right where Loyola is located!!
