Has anyone received a fellowship?

Since you're the first person who has asked about this, do you know if we had to answer that one question on the application to be considered for a fellowship?

That was for last cycle -- there was no question on the application about fellowships. Now, there's a question on the application that wasn't there in the past about the fellowships. Hence, why I'm interested in knowing if it's a requirement to receive them.

I got this fellowship as well but im a bit confused about what exactly the total amount is. You get instate tuition, which is equivalent to 13k a year and then get paid 4k a year for working right?

Admit package today. Graduate fellowship, stipend, and additional 8k. Total award is 21k. I like these people.

i dont think i indicated anything scholarship-wise on my app. i definetly didnt write an essay or anything though.

Sweet. I was worried that if I didn't check anything on the question that asked about the fellowships that I wouldn't be considered for one. Looks like it wasn't a requirement - whew! Now just the wait for the packet...

I'm dying too, but the funny thing is, it's not like we're waiting for the pony express. You know the packet is on it's way, and chances are excellent that it will be there before Thursday, but we are all so crazy that it kills us to wait an extra day.

I received my offer in the mail today, too (I'm in MN, fwiw) I got the Graduate Fellowship (with $4000 stipend) and a seperate renewable 10k/yr scholarship. I'm stoked about the offer and opportunity to do research as a 2L & 3L, but I'm also a bit confused as to what the offer amount actually is.

The difference in instate and out of state tuition in 2010-2011 is only 10k (23,800 vs 33,800), so I'm not sure that the difference between next year's resident and non-resident tuition would spike up to 13,000 (the amount it sounds like in the letter). So I guess I'm not sure if it should be interpreted as: We're waiving out of state tuition (a $13,000 value) and you'll earn a $4,000 stipend OR we're waiving your out of state tuition ($10k value for the 2010-2011 year), plus giving you 13K fellowship, plus you'll earn a 4k stipend.

I guess I'll probably call them tomorrow or shoot them up an email to clarify. Confused as I am, I'm suuuuuuuuuuuper happy with my offer nonetheless.

Hmm. Ended up with a $10,000/year scholarship (with OOS tuition). Looks like the cost of attendance is gonna be a little too much for me.
