Thanks to both of you! I was panicking a bit because I was looking at 20&Grand for my living (since it's one block from the law school), but there's no way I could afford it atop my other expenses (especially medical) with the 22k or whatever they give you per year. Am I correct to assume the Grad Plus loans are on top of the tuition + COL?

I am trying to think this all through in the fortuitous even that I am accepted off the wait list because I know I will need to act promptly.

Has anyone heard of people getting offers after the email? I checked out the thread from last year and it seems like 2 days following the email, a bunch (seems like 4 at the least) were accepted

In reference to the last part, I don't think the gradplus are on top. You are only allowed to receive student loan rates for COA (tuition+COL). After that you'll need private loans for specific things like a car. I'm pretty sure vandy allows for a one time increase in COA for the express purpose of buying a laptop. Other than that the loans will have higher interest and won't have as lenient deferral and payment options.

Are you referring to need-based aid? I would presume we will pay sticker if Vandy magnanimously lifts us off the wait list. However, I hope there are some funds available as the school is lavishly priced.
Christina Williams already e-mailed a lot of waitlisters about this. She said no scholarship money was available and expect to be paying sticker if you get tapped. You will be able to get federal loans, but don't expect anything you won't have to pay back.
This is (unfortunately) what I presumed, though I am not one of the waitlisters who received that e-mail. Are you able to take out more loans than what they allocate for COL? Nashville is kind of expensive...
If you didn't get the email call them - gmail eats Vandy letters to bulk addresses.

I'd have to guess you replaced the guy who just got off the waitlist at Penn. Gotta love the trickle down effect.

Thanks! Yes, I interviewed back in the fall and had an unofficial interview this spring when I visited. I wrote 3 LOCIs in addition to a Why Vandy supplemental.

Basically just congrats and that I had until Monday to pay my deposit. He also told me I got a $5000 per year need based scholarship.

Withdrew from the wait list today. Just sent off a $1000 deposit to GW and bought plane tickets for house-hunting in DC ... can't really afford to switch at this point if I got offered a spot.

Good luck to everyone!

i met a guy this weekend who received an offer off the waitlist (he is not on TLS) and is thinking of turning it down for the full ride he has at Wake Forest.
So that may be another open spot in a couple days...
fingers crossed
