Hey guys I was deferred from ED. I sent in a LOCI last week that I tracked, so I know it has arrived. I called today to see if they had put it in my file, but they said they haven't received it yet. I figure it must be sitting in a pile of paper that they haven't scanned into the system yet.

Does anyone know how long this process takes? Should I call back again this week, or is that too much? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I did a similar thing and then sent it again via e-mail, noting I had sent it via priority mail and through in some fluff of being thankful for their time and please add this, etc.

They e-mailed me back the morning after thanking my for my strong continued interest.

So what is the point of not telling someone anything for four months, why wait to waitlist?

It's just so asinine. Who do these people think they are? At least email or update a status after four months. Makes me not want to go there.

I imagine it's probably because they have a pile of "maybe" applications that they dig into when they have two compelling on the fence applicants who are impressive in different respects and need to offset their weaknesses. Telling you you're on the waitlist is a turnoff for many applicants, who just want to KNOW where they're going this fall.

Moral of the story: at this point in the cycle, I wouldn't get your hopes up of hearing anything soon. That said, I wouldn't lose hope that you can still get in.
