Obligatory post from ASW. Cal is great!!!! Berkeley seems so fun. Not sure about others impressions, but I could see myself here and it definitely helps narrow down my choices.

Indeed. The hike alone made me consider paying sticker.

I didn't make it to the hike. too hungover went to brunch at la note instead. pain perdu, so good.

town was so fun though! bought a vase from a guy who said he had too many felonies to ride airplanes. the bay bridge view from Ihouse is spectacular.

Got my matching scholarship offer late last night. They gave me more than the peer offer I submitted (pm for any details). Kristin Alvarez is clearly trying as hard as she can to get everything out, but she did say they are pending on all other offers until they get responses to the Apr 15 deadline.

I held my seat today to tentatively attend. excited.

Did anyone attend any ASW events Saturday/Sunday? I went to admit day on friday and had a great time. However, the only shit I saw planned for the weekend was the hike (pretty, but I've lived in SF for 4 years. It's more for the out-of-towners), the picnic, and a couple of dinners that didn't really seem catered to me. Were there a bunch of events/parties not listed?

Hoping I hear back from them soon on the matching scholarship. I responded already as a tentative yes, but it would be hard to turn down $90,000 at UVA to pay almost sticker at Berkeley, even with the need based grant, considering it's not automatically renewable.

Damn, wish I coulda made it. Sounds awesome.

Tentatively agreed to a yes. My only career goal is to work for Google so I can't let go of Berkeley yet.

Also curious about this. I got an email over the weekend from Kristen Alvarez that said they'd be making offers on 4/16. Anyone have a matching scholarship to report? I fear I missed this wave. Not excited to have to wait another two weeks to hear.

I got my official match letter today, and I have to respond by April 30th. Maybe those waiting might have to wait until after that deadline.

Edit: The letter made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Berkeley has been so good to me. They accepted me two weeks after applying. They matched my scholarship even though my stats aren't stellar. I feel loved and yet I still yearn for HYS. Me = dbag

I still haven't heard a yes or no on matching from Berkeley and it's my top choice, but my other deadlines are quickly approaching. Would it be in poor taste to ask them to expedite my decision? I feel like that might give me the short end of the stick, but with less than 2 weeks until the April 30/May 1 deadline for most schools and large scholarships from other schools, Berkeley really isn't giving me any options...

not at all. as long as you do it respectfully, there's nothing wrong with checking in given your circumstances.

I'm fairly certain they expedited my "Hell no" because UVA's deadline was April 4th

I hope you were right about this Twinkle. Maybe there's a chance of some matching today? Even though I have been repeatedly denied money at any school I really want, I remain stupidly optimistic that Berkeley will pull through for me.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
