Yeah, you get an email and you schedule the call. I don't know exactly what it looks like.

I have a tough call to make ever since my app was held. I would really enjoying hearing your guys' opinion. Say I am an Harvard alumna and recently participated in a series of alumni event, in which I made presentations to current students about my research in the organizaiton I am currently working for, as well as potential job opportunities for them. Do you guys recommend asking a letter from a professor who also participated in those events? It will talk about my performance in those events and his general impression about me, since I never took class with him. Will it help, or harm my chance? I had two letters in my file so far. Any advice is welcome!

Honestly, I don't see how that letter would help you. Unless the professor knows you in an academic context or has had extended interaction with you in a professional context, a letter saying "she is good at making presentations" is unlikely to have much effect on your application.

I don't know how quickly the process is going now, but around the time I applies (11/22) The timeline I saw most frequently looked something like Apply- UR a couple days later- complete email about a month after UR- KB1 about a week after complete

That was just the timeline I saw most often for people who got KB1s in the first round of their "batch." There were many people who got KB1s much later than a week after the complete email.

You should get your complete email within a week. After that, all bets are off. You could hear back as soon as a couple of days after your first complete email, or as long as 2 months.

Nope, they say they aim to reach a decision by the end of 2nd month but it is not guaranteed.

ETA: On that note, today seems over as well. I really hope for some movement tomorrow, like KB1s for next week, rejection for me, something.

uh..no.

1) HLS doesnt have ED

2) Only some (around 15%) of applicants get scheduled for an interview (KB1)...if you don't get one, you're screwed

3) Out of those with a KB1, 2/3 will get accepted.

Basically, only if HLS "likes" you will you get an interview...w/o an interview, you will not get accepted
