I'm a URM but from Canada which we already established doesn't count as URM for US law schools. But I still want in on the fight club...

+1 An african URM with a Canadian GPA, which doesnt count even more. I will fight to the death!

Another URM, 11/22 here. Had resolved myself to a WL, (still pretty sure of a WL considering my luck with other T10 schools lol), but after seeing how many others are out there, it definitely just gave me faintest glimmer of hope. And yeah, I'll throw down. Who knows, maybe the odds will be ever in my favor? At least moreso than they are with me just sitting here twiddling my thumbs

I doubt it. I think we're on a maybe pile and NYU is waiting for the February LSATs and the application deadline - as in, if there are (relatively) a lot of really strong new candidates, we're SOL, but if the revised pool is really weak we'll be up for consideration
Basically it can be considered a primary waitlist - if there aren't enough strong candidates (or a large amount of withdrawals), they'll accept people from the maybe list.
Then, once April rolls in, if there aren't enough seat deposits, they start pulling from the Waitlist.

Note: I have no factual basis for this. But I'm very good at figuring out why things are the way they are

I dunno about that... from what I see, the only URMs who have been admitted post priority (since december) have had amazing LSATs, save for one or two. Looking at previous years, URMs have been accepted this late, and the fact that there are so many of us, all around the same submit time many of whom with great stats makes me feel like this is definitely NOT a waitlist style situation. This is just from looking at last year on LSN, which we all know if flawed.

also, this is involving my own personal hope. I went UR 1/23, and it seems like the only people who have seen movement around my submit time are auto admit/auto reject.

Sounds about right. A friend of mine is 4.0, 175 non-urm female and she heard back two weeks ago. Submitted maybe a week before me? Pretty awesome softs as well, but I think I got her in that respect. Just never know... Never know..

So if I'm doing it right, it looks like waitlists start coming in mid to late April, yeah?

Fortunately, it looks like there were a decent number of people that got in off the WL

Last year there were a number of acceptances on 3/9 and 3/10, which would equate to this week. I've seen a bunch of rejects on LSN but no acceptances this week. Should we be expecting some accepts early next week?

Anything's possible except that the 9th and 10th of last years cycle is actually Wednesday and Thursday, the 7th and the 8th of this year. There have also been a few other schools that aren't really following their March pattern from last year. Obviously anything can happen but I wouldn't be too hopeful about nailing down their upcoming days for decisions.

The way I've started looking at it is everyday that I don't get a decision is one day closer to the day I hear something. It makes me feel better for about 5 minutes and then I go refresh my status checker for the next few hours

that's become my philosophy, too. plus, I'm working on my thesis and I'm officially in the "HOLY FUCK, GET THIS SHIT DONE" phase of the process. Not knowing about LS is making me buckle down and shift my focus. that being said, please please please let me know!

I'm trying to figure that out myself. It seems like they may have come out earlier, but people changed their status to "decision rendered" on the day they decided about where they were attending... so if they withdrew or just never updated what happened of the WL, that was kind of their last day being concerned about NYU
