Apparently last year as of March 12 (just after CR2 ended), Berkeley was done making decisions. This was posted in the Berkeley 2010 thread on March 12 last year:

"From Berkeley's Twitter: We've completed the process and emailed all the decisions for first-year JD applicants!"

So I think that last batch of CR that went out on Feb. 14th was it.

Umm...OOS tuition=$52k. Instate=$44k. So he's basically getting free tuition for 2 years. High COL is what drives the total cost up--just like it does at Stanford, CCN, Penn, Northwestern, and GT. Cost of attendance is lower w/instate tuition at Berkeley than at all of those schools (plus Cornell & Duke) and only negligibly more than Virginia's.

Probably remains competitive in part because Berkeley is roughly 16,000x better to live in than any other T14 locale.

Ouch. Point remains that $100k is still roughly 2 years' of tuition. $54 OOS (2011-12) + $51 IS (2012-13)=$105k.

You're one person--many, many people would disagree with your feelings about Berkeley itself. I think the extra money is relatively small in comparison to overall COA at peer schools (yes, $10k is a lot of money, but the difference between $120k of debt and $130k of debt isn't huge when you take into account non-$ factors). Also, from what I've seen, Berkeley tends to give out more need-based money than some peer schools, further offsetting the debt differential for many students.

Et tu brutus? Even r6 is showing the Berkeley hate. J/k its very much in play for me. With my gi bill (i was in the army for almost 5 yrs) Berkeley is free for me. Some of my scholarship may even be refundable. So if I go there ill at least get COA and I might leave law school with more in my pocket than I had coming in.

lol nah, I get your point...I think on average, though, people would rank Berkeley/Bay Area at the top of the list. At least, people who don't want to walk around in muddy snow/sludge during the winter

I visited the northeast for the first time and I discoverd that this area was a friggin frozen tundra it blizzarded twice in Boston the week I was there. I spent the 3 weeks freezing. 27 degrees farenheight was the warmest temperature there.

The day I arrived in Los Angeles from Washington DC in early February I started laughing maniacally. People were staring at me. For once after 4 weeks I didn't have to wear 4 layers of hot clothing. How could anyone want to live in these frozen areas? Seriously I love being able to go out in a 75 degree sunny day in February.

You can do all those things here in CA by driving one or two hours depending on where you live.

I'm from Chicago but I hate the winter, although it's not that bad. He must really think UM is really cold he listed them twice.

You can do all those things here in CA by driving one or two hours depending on where you live.

I do these things on a daily basis in the winter and I don't have to drive one or two hours. I'm fine with the cold. This Southern Californian view that cold=terrible is annoying. Well this holds for some people, it is not necessarily a dominant view. Many people are fine with colder winters.
