They were, and I kicked myself for missing it. The email gave me hope because I now have a new deadline :)

This makes me wonder if a lot of people missed the first deadline so they extended to hopefully give themselves more options.

I've been complete here for months, haven't been held, haven't been interviewed, haven't received anything. LOCI or just wait for the inevitable WL?

Also the email says they'll be MAILING the decision -- do you think they'll extend the deposit deadline accordingly?

"Greetings from Columbia" like it is a vacation invitation. I also like how they specify it should be one page. I broke that suggestion with my first LOCI oops. The only nice thing about being on more than one waiting list is that you have "stock" LOCI paragraphs that can build a letter like legos.

Honestly this wait for NYU/CLS has been exhausting. If I'm waiting for half a year in this limbo with radio silence, and I end up being waitlisted by both schools, I'm going to be pretty upset. Especially because these two are my top schools and I would put a deposit down in minutes.

:(

PMd my exact stats but I'm 25-50th LSAT and just above median GPA. I wonder why I wasn't at least held. I hope my LOCI didn't dissuade them lol
In the same position as Keilz and my LSAT is median and my GPA is above the 75th so am fairly baffled about the wait (slash what I assume is a pending rejection?). I'll be withdrawing tomorrow to accept a scholarship elsewhere without ever having been even held, which is a situation that I never really considered being in considering the early application

Can someone PM me it as well?

Out of curiosity, how does this work? They basically review the hold candidates, make their initial A/R/W decision, and they then review waitlist applicants who are then invited to participate in a Hunger Games style grudge match for whatever is left?

Does it mean that they are done reviewing the non-hold apps and are moving on to the hold ones? I am still waiting anxiously to hear back...

I'm just gonna post the email:

Dear [NAME],

We hope you are enjoying your spring. As we continue to evaluate applications for the Columbia Law School Class of 2020, we are also reviewing candidates whom we placed on "Hold" earlier in the admissions season. We would like to encourage you, if you have not already done so, to submit a statement of continuing interest in Columbia. To the extent possible, kindly limit the statement to one page. Please send the statement to admissions@law.columbia.edu no later than Monday, April 17, 2017. Upon receipt of your correspondence, we will add the statement to your file but will not be able to confirm receipt of individual statements.
Please note that as part of the admissions process, we may extend to you the opportunity to interview with the Admissions Committee if you have not already done so.

At this date, we also understand that you may have chosen to go to another law school for the next three years. While we are saddened by the loss of your candidacy, we would appreciate it if you could notify us as soon as possible by emailing admissions@law.columbia.edu.

Please be advised that should you remain under consideration, we will make every effort to mail your decision no later than April 27, 2017. Thank you again for your continued patience and interest in Columbia Law School.

Warm wishes,
Nkonye Iwerebon
Dean of Admissions

Question for admits. Did CLS ever send y'all an email verifying that they've received your financial aid forms? I sent them my questionnaire a couple days ago, but have yet to hear back. Curious if that's normal. Thanks!!

FYI, you shouldn't have to withdraw from schools you haven't heard from in order to accept a scholarship. You definitely can, but schools can't require you to do so.

Nope, no confirmation. They did tell me they would contact me if they needed additional info (after I called and asked)

Np. Does the scholarship agreement explicitly state that you have to withdraw your pending applications? I have a scholarship agreement I'll very likely be accepting in the next few days, but it only requires that I withdraw all of my applications to schools to which I've currently been accepted. Which means I'll probably be riding out a couple waitlists :)

This information is not well advertised enough. I see so many posts that don't know you don't have to withdraw from waitlists to accept an offer.

If it does, the school would likely get in trouble, since it goes against LSAC requirements.

I wish! NYU is the only school I haven't heard from (and one of the likely WLs I'll be riding out). Also the HLS WL. The scholly is from Berk

Gotcha. The Vandy acceptance deadline is in a week. I had the unfortunate timing of Columbia's last Monday visitation day being a few days afterward, but I'm compensating by instead going to visit Columbia's campus on my own the day before NYU's ASD. (No travel subsidy for individual visitations, alas.)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
