I don't think there was any ED WL movement today. Right luxxe?cactuarX3 wrote:Too lazy to go back and read. Did Jam make it in? They better have let him in!

WL. This one hurts a bit, but I'm fortunate to have had a pretty good cycle so far otherwise. Congrats to all the new admits.

No . And as this thread was getting mass acceptances, I finally got the courage to call and ask when they were going to start re-reviewing ED apps but apparently they only take calls from 10-3. I called at 3:04.JamMasterJ wrote:I don't think there was any ED WL movement today. Right luxxe?cactuarX3 wrote:Too lazy to go back and read. Did Jam make it in? They better have let him in!

Re: Chicago c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I got WLed on Friday. It's a small hit to my ego and nothing more though. I have never been that high on UChicago due to its reputation as a super competitive place lacking in fun (idk how true that rep is, but I always felt like I'd rather not attend and find out it was totally true), as well as the severe Chicago weather (I lived in Chicago for 10 years, so I can deal with it, but I'd rather not). With that said, having already gotten into NYU as well as UVA with 105k, I had already sort of decided that an acceptance at UChicago would be meaningless for me. I think it works out, then, because someone out there got an acceptance instead of me, and he or she probably really really wanted it.

To those who were accepted in the first wave, how long after did it take for you to be notified of your Ruby or Scholarship offer? Thanks a ton!

Rubies were sent out maybe a week or two ago (Check in the in at chicago thread). Then they said scholarship offers would be released next week (all non ruby scholarships).PopTorts13 wrote:To those who were accepted in the first wave, how long after did it take for you to be notified of your Ruby or Scholarship offer? Does anyone know if that includes the Friday acceptances? On the website, I think it said to expect scholarship decisions within about a month.Champion wrote:Rubies were sent out maybe a week or two ago (Check in the in at chicago thread). Re: Chicago c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I apologize for not being as clear as I should have, but I mean...
How many days after students where admitted, did they receive Rubinstein's or scholarship?
I was admitted on Friday and am curious how long it could take until I hear of a possible Ruby or scholarship. I am assuming students who already received a Ruby, but plan on attending Y/H/S will provide opportunities for others to receive their Ruby.
Thanks for any info all!

Since there's only been the one round of Rubies, your question is answered.Champion wrote:Rubies were sent out maybe a week or two ago (Check in the in at chicago thread). Then they said scholarship offers would be released next week (all non ruby scholarships).

I finally got my first UR today, anybody else? Should we start a betting pool for when the next round of decisions will be?

According to my acceptance email, applicants admitted in February have two weeks from their date of admission to submit the needs access form. However, it can't hurt to get it in ASAP.coward wrote:Do I need to get my fin-aid stuff in by feb 15th if I am still under review?

Any idea how much WL movement they have and how hopeless I should feel?

Aside from the 2009-2010 cycle, it looks like UChicago has historically admitted a number of candidates off of the waitlist (unlike Columbia, for instance). I'd say that there's certainly hope, but I wouldn't suggest banking on it.2014 wrote:Any idea how much WL movement they have and how hopeless I should feel?

Re: Chicago c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
There was a LOT of waitlist action last year, May through August. Things may have stabilized slightly, but they overenrolled 2009-2010 (which is a srs problem with such a small class) so I think they tend to err on the side of caution. Definitely don't be discouraged! Also, most people (everyone I talked to) who got in off the waitlist got financial aid.potl wrote:Aside from the 2009-2010 cycle, it looks like UChicago has historically admitted a number of candidates off of the waitlist (unlike Columbia, for instance). And at least one waitlist -> accepted person got a Ruby (but they had been accepted to one of YHS, I can't remember)
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
