What's the difference between "Held" and "Reserve." At this point, is it better to be held or reserved?

Held means you will get an initial decision "soon" - acceptance, rejection, or reserve. Reserve is what every other school calls the waitlist.

Admitted without major scholarships, financial aid office is still reviewing my stuff. I'm assuming that whatever it will be, it probably won't approach even half tuition. Hence, my dilema: Is there any way to justify Columbia over NU at full scholarship, if the end goal is LA biglaw? I've been agonizing over this for a whole week now, and still can't decide. A poll I created on these forums tells me I'm insane to even consider turning down NU's freeride. What do you guys think?

I'm in the same boat except my interests are PI/unicorn jobs. Is your deadline to respond to NU this Friday as well?

It was, but I emailed them 30 minutes ago asking for a 2 week extension, and 10 minutes later got a response that they'll extend the deadline until April 20th. With my first name misspelled :/ Guess it was their way to get back at me lol

Definitely try to negotiate with Columbia using your NU offer...I can totally understand why you'd want to go to CLS. Best of luck with your decision

I did contact Columbia's financial aid office with NU's deposit deadline email that also included the offer itself to try and speed things up, but I didn't explicitly ask for "more money" because I haven't received any kind of offer as of yet. Do you there is a polite way to ask for money before I even get the initial offer, considering they already know about the NU freeride offer?

Anyone heard from Columbia's financial aid office yet? I submitted right before the deadline so I'm wondering if that's the reason I haven't heard from them yet... Do they email ppl to notify them at all if they decide not to give out any financial aid?

y'all - I was not held and applied 6.5 months ago and haven't received a decision. I think they're just behind compared to last year.

I wouldn't send a second LOCI yet.

Trust me, I'm a waiting pro, it only harms you to speculate into past patterns. I've wasted so many hours of my life lol

Honestly this wait for NYU/CLS has been exhausting. If I'm waiting for half a year in this limbo with radio silence, and I end up being waitlisted by both schools, I'm going to be pretty upset. Especially because these two are my top schools and I would put a deposit down in minutes. It's really affected my life, work productivity, etc...

PMd my exact stats but I'm 25-50th LSAT and just above median GPA. I wonder why I wasn't at least held. I hope my LOCI didn't dissuade them lol
