Legit review. I'm wondering if it's because I couldn't get my father's info for Need Access (never met the man and would have no idea in how to get in touch with him).trojandave wrote:Final stages or legit review?NoodleyOne wrote:My Financial Aid application has been under review since the 12th...

Looks like they're digging into the pile of reverse splitters.
As someone headed for the wait list, this means at least that some of us just shy of both medians should be closer to the top...we hope.

What's a reverse splitter? Like I'm above on one criteria and below the other?megagnarley wrote:Congrats!Eli wrote:Applied 2/14 with a 169, 3.97. Shocked to get the call today - accepted, letter's on the way! That was fast. I'll be seein' ya, NYU!

I got in with a 162 and a 173 and only a 3.6x gpa, so doubt they truly average.

That's awesome, CONGRATS! I honestly didn't even expect to be admitted with my numbers, so this is definitely a welcome surprise.twinkletoes16 wrote:PRgradBYU wrote:WHOA, just found out that NYU is offering me $20,000 for each of the first two years, and $10,000 for the third year (if I make more than $15,000 during my 2L summer)!!! LSAT averaging is the only possible reason I can explain NYU's complete radio silence with me since November. Stuck at UR 11/26, high LSAT of 171, but average low 160s, GPA 3.81. I even sent them an LOCI in mid-January with some good reasons, my dad is an alum. What the hell?marshal26 wrote:bbsg wrote:For what it's worth, I had a 165 and a 175. Isn't 171 still below median though? I thought NYU had a 172 median.drh_104 wrote:LSAT averaging is the only possible reason I can explain NYU's complete radio silence with me since November. As far as I know, they haven't released their latest median, but based on the 25th and 75th %iles, the new one is probably 171.Crowing wrote: Isn't 171 still below median though? I thought NYU had a 172 median.

I submitted Need Access last Friday night and got my award today: $62.5K.
I don't think this is enough to steer me away from Cornell's offer. I may try to negotiate but even if they bumped it up to $75K, I think it would still be a difficult choice.
Congrats to the new admits and to the people excited about their scholarship offers!

I'm pretty sure this has to be the reason, Noodley. Did you ever contact NYU about their policy of needing both parents' info?NoodleyOne wrote: Legit review. congrats lavitz! debt-free is debt-free though.
i think NYU might be doing a weird combined version of need/merit for their scholarship offers. that's what it feels like, at least.

Yeah, maybe it has to do with the fact that I was honest about how much cash I have saved up. I mean, it's only enough to make a small dent, but they may have adjusted mine downward because of it.

I have zero in savings and a hilariously small amount in my checking account, and my current job is giving me pennies. they might have thrown some more my way because of my financial situation. all speculation though.
