Hm, so I guess something worth mentioning is... don't underestimate the importance of the PS for Berkeley. Having one that is too short and/or not tailored to Berkeley appears to hurt your chances.

Best of luck to you, I'm sure they'll like that.Flips88 wrote:Hope my 4 page Berkeley specific PS pushes me over the threshold.jrose5 wrote:Hm, so I guess something worth mentioning is... don't underestimate the importance of the PS for Berkeley. I got flat out rejected with a median and a 75th percentile stat. Now, I know those aren't stellar numbers... but I was thinking it was at least decent for committee review, though.

Dinged today. UR 1-18. Non CR. Did not have Berkeley specific ps; however, my ps was tailored to emphasize my technical background which I thought would help me considering the strength of berkeleys IP program and the lack of technically qualified applicants.jrose5 wrote:Hm, so I guess something worth mentioning is... don't underestimate the importance of the PS for Berkeley. Good luck to the rest of you; I sincerely hope you outperform me in law school admissions!

Same situation, same strategy... entirely. Also a non-CR reject from a week ago. I suppose they really care about length statements and/or Berkeley-tailored ones.helloperson wrote:Dinged today. WL here (CR1).
Can anyone who got in share the date that you need to respond to the acceptance by?
From what I understand, confirming that you accept requires no deposit, which may mean people on the waitlist will be active until the very last minute since there is no check to write, and people aren't really forced to make their decisions earlier ....
Thanks.

Dinged yesterday via e-mail (my first of the cycle). UR since 1/18. Not a shocker given my numbers, but the first one always hurts. Good luck to all.

I think they want good PSs. I'm not sure how much it matters if you use all 4 pages or mention Berkeley a bunch. It didn't seem to matter for me.

Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
Is it me or does it feel as if everyone who didnt go to CR2 and went under review on the same day has the same fate at the same time. For example many UR 1/18's got rejected yesterday via email. before that UR 1/11's had similar fates all on the same day. I'm a UR 1/25 that didnt go to CR so my rejection is coming up
. I really thought i was at lease worth a CR. I guess getting into ucla and usc 3 weeks after going complete made me too overconfident....

Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
Just a ray of hope for all you 2011 applicants: My friend applied to Boalt in 2009 with a 4.0/ 163 (college: liberal arts) and got in with a $16k scholarship. He told them that he would not be able to attend b/c of a family emergency. They encouraged him to apply again this past year and he got in again. So don't obsess over numbers too much for Boalt.

Re: Berkeley 2011 applicants
Admitted on Thursday!! Saw email literally right before taking off to China, gasped loudly on the plane freaking out some other passengers. First acceptance since October, so I'm pretty thrilled to say the least. Congratulations to the other admitted students!! FYI my personal statement wasn't that long either, so there's hope to those of you who didn't write a long Cal specific personal statement. HYP URM here with 25th percentile numbers and strong softs. Pretty shocked since Cal doesn't admit many candidates from my college for some reason.

My guess? They're waiting to see if you're going to withdraw...Gotti wrote:I'm UR 12/6 too. Applied 12/6 and nothing.
If your scores are on the high side, then this might make sense. But, again, just a guess.
Congrats to the new admits! Rotor's right... come to the ASW - it's really fun, you'll meet great people, and it will showcase how Berkeley's different (short answer: happy, fun law students).

What are the benefits of withdrawing? Im assuming it may help if one intends to apply in a future cycle?gymboree wrote:My guess?
