Maybe tomorrow?
I'm at 4.250, but I'm hoping my URM status pushes me onto the acceptance pile here lol.

I also counted everything at $75k as a Butler. I didn't know that they would give out need-based aid in the exact same amount as their second-best scholarship. Damn you, Columbia! It would be impossibly time-consuming to go through and check each of those to see if it's really a Butler, and probably misleading anyway, since many people don't identify whether their aid is need-based or merit-based.BenJ wrote:I counted any $75k as a Butler. Some of those might not be Butlers, then. Damn you, Columbia, complicating things.georgina wrote:to both you and tomhobbes-- when you guys did your counting, did you include all 60000+ as "butlers?" because 75000 is a common aid total for cls. see:BenJ wrote: I think the money then goes to small scholarships. LSN reports no Hamiltons or Butlers offered after mid-February in any year.
Going through last year on LSN:
Butlers:
1/22 (3)
1/23
1/24 (5)
1/26 (2)
1/28 (3)
2/12
2/18
Unknown date
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/ParanoidJet
http://lawschoolnumbers.com/rabbit9198
so for those of us still waiting, the past trend does not support more butlers going out. but, new year, new scholly trend? otherwise, what is going on with all these indexes that should be auto-admit?
Also, mistermister may have only be a 4.426, but he was a Chemistry/Physics double major (!) who probably had some ridiculously strong focus on patent law.

Columbia has a reputation for distributing need-based aid on a merit basis as well, though. That is, if two people have equal need, but one has a 180 LSAT and the other has a 172 LSAT, the 180 LSAT will get a lot more need-based aid.tomhobbes wrote:I also counted everything at $75k as a Butler. We have a chain of command, going from Bai's 4.7 index to my 4.5 index. I don't worry until my commanding officers get bad news.blue5385 wrote:I don't know about that....the latest acceptance from last year's cycle on LSN came on 4/17. Well I'm hoping for some totally non-need based merit aid under the guise of 'need-based aid'.BenJ wrote:Columbia has a reputation for distributing need-based aid on a merit basis as well, though. I'm not worried at all about getting in. I'm just really, really hoping I get a straggling Butler.

Just send it directly to Columbia; the other schools will never know the difference.jimmyd11011 wrote:efff... I've been putting off sending my updated (worse) transcript to lsac for nyu hoping to hear from columbia first but i don't know how much longer I can delay it

that's what i was really hoping to do, too, but my parents have made it clear to me that they will not submit all that stuff for the FAFSA so short of a butler or hamilton, i'm out of luckof Benito Cereno wrote:Well I'm hoping for some totally non-need based merit aid under the guise of 'need-based aid'.BenJ wrote:Columbia has a reputation for distributing need-based aid on a merit basis as well, though. Re: Columbia 2010
You mean directly to NYU (They're the ones who asked for it, not Columbia)? I would, except NYU specifically said in the email to send the transcript to LSAC and not directly to them. I'm apprehensive of sending them to LSAC because I don't want schools that haven't notified me (i.e. Columbia) to see these worse grades and reject me, or schools that have already accepted me to give me worse scholarship offers. If only I could hear back from Columbia, I could just withdraw from NYU and avoid this mess...GeePee wrote:Just send it directly to Columbia; the other schools will never know the difference.jimmyd11011 wrote:efff... So I haven't been checking this thread since I was deferred to March from ED pool
Has anyone sent out LOCI? When is the appropriate time to send it out? And is it even worth it? thanks for any advice you can give!

Eh? The FAFSA should allow you to apply as an independent. Unless you have an absurdly high income for a student (unlikely), you'll be fine.somewhatwayward wrote:that's what i was really hoping to do, too, but my parents have made it clear to me that they will not submit all that stuff for the FAFSA so short of a butler or hamilton, i'm out of luckof Benito Cereno wrote:Well I'm hoping for some totally non-need based merit aid under the guise of 'need-based aid'.BenJ wrote:Columbia has a reputation for distributing need-based aid on a merit basis as well, though. Re: Columbia 2010
How long have you delayed already? I would say the maximum delay time before NYU starts getting ticked off is about two weeks. They've admitted some people who they requested grades from before the transcripts even went through, so it's probably worth waiting even just for an NYU acceptance, let alone CC or HYS. But, yeah, if it's been a couple of weeks, submit them. It's not worth sacrificing all shot at NYU admission for an uncertain shot at HYSCC.jimmyd11011 wrote:You mean directly to NYU (They're the ones who asked for it, not Columbia)? The FAFSA allows you to apply as an independent, but law schools don't (with some age exceptions).BenJ wrote:Eh? The FAFSA should allow you to apply as an independent.
