Re: NYU 2011
I'm going to posit that us EDers who are still UR have been deferred and that we'll get an email or letter telling us this without our status checkers ever changing. I don't think we would get 'decision mailed' if the decision is deferral.

I went "decision letter sent" on 12/9/2010, but have still not received any envelope. Is anybody else from the 9th still waiting?

What do you guys think the odds are that this 12/17 decision letter sent is an acceptance?

I got that update on 12/6. Got the purple letter on 12/13 (west coast) if that helps.porkbarrel wrote:I went "decision letter sent" on 12/9/2010, but have still not received any envelope. Is anybody else from the 9th still waiting?

Re: NYU 2011
For those in my situation (ED, "Decision Sent" on 12/15, reach candidate), this doesn't bode well:

If this is accurate, it looks like denials for ED applications are starting to arrival in the mail.
Courage friends!

Re: NYU 2011
does anyone know what percent NYU takes off the waitlist? I saw some data from a few years ago in a thread on here somewhere but wondering if anyone has any data from last year's cycle?
Clearly I have high hopes at this point, lol. I checked out last year's acceptances on LSN and looks like majority came in this first part of December with the ones in January-Feb mostly for late applicants. I know this is just a small sample of all acceptances - does anyone have anecdotal evidence of Jan or later acceptances for people who went complete in November or before?

Re: NYU 2011
thanks!! Here's hoping for a waitlist at this point. I'm usually an optimist but this process has turned me the other way hahaKili wrote:I don't have the statistic but this is from the info page on TLS:ilovemulch wrote:does anyone know what percent NYU takes off the waitlist? "Waitlist relegation at NYU is not a fatal blow to an applicant’s chances, as the school accepts a significant number of waitlisted applicants each year. Therefore, a continuous show of interest in the school is crucial to those who find themselves on the waitlist. Even rejected students are left some hope of admission, as the school has shown a willingness to accept as transfer students applicants that had originally been rejected."

Re: NYU 2011
Thanks, Kili! So from what you've seen you havent noticed borderline-ers (non URM) getting in? I guess I was basing my pessimism off of last year's LSN which showed like the vast majority of people getting in the first 3 wks of Dec (although last cycle was pretty crazy overall so maybe it can't even really be compared...)Kili wrote:I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. From what I can gather, so far they've only accepted people who are going to raise their medians (as well as the stronger URMs). Sit tight for a little while before you get too pessimistic.ilovemulch wrote: thanks!! Here's hoping for a waitlist at this point. Re: NYU 2011
There is no New York 12/17 or anything is there? No one who would receive their letter by Monday who could let us know if it's good or bad? It seems none of us will be around to check our mail. I'm referring to people who are RD.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
