Best guess is we are held.

maybe... but then as super early applicants, why wouldn't we be in the first batch? idk, it just seems strange.poultry wrote:Best guess is we are held.boosk wrote:Silence since mid September... What does it all MEAN!?

first batch of what? I didn't hear anyone who got held yet...I assume held is different from "reserve" which a lot of folks already got.

Hey, my postmark date was 2/14 (Valentines day love). I can pm you (or whoever wants it) my numbers. I'm just still nervous while my applications are still getting reviewed at at other schools.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Congrats to you two! You guys must feel great =).

Ok, so I just came home and saw a large vomit-colored envelope (no joke, the exact color) sticking out of the mailbox, lost my mind for a second on my way to get it, and when I pulled it out, realized that it was addressed to my roommate from her family in Germany for her birthday...
Going insane even though it's a reach... le sigh.

She edited that in after I posted. I'm sad I don't live in one of the big cities anymore so I'm subject to the whims of the local postman. Tomorrow's our day guise.TheRedMamba wrote:hermoine right above you said she did in LA, 2 days after postmarked date as was mine in the Bay Area when I received my VCE a few weeks agoCorrupty wrote:Anyone on the west coast get one this batch?

Accepted today via letter in mail. Submitted on 1/18. Surprised by the relatively swift turnaround.
Haven't gotten a chance to review the contents of the envelope yet. Someone is checking my mail for me, and "accepted" is the extent of the info I got. Is scholarship information included in acceptance mail or does that come later?
Stats in profile for the curious.

So it looks like all but one of the admits in this batch were January submits (and the one exception was someone who had a grade request in January, so he probably wasn't looked at until then anyway). I don't think those of us still waiting from earlier are going to be finding anything in the mail just yet...

Theory about Columbia...
Perhaps they go through the "relatively easy admits" (hesitant to say 'auto') before the deadline has passed and they know their full class. Then, they might begin to admit people who were closer calls, prior to then placing others on waitlist or hold. Anyone know if they handle it this way? That's what I'm hoping for as an NYC'er + Dec. applicant who hasn't heard.

I like this theory too (in fact, I put it forward earlier in this threadcommerceclause wrote:Theory about Columbia...

Also living close to NYC, also with no VCE. Hope that gives you far-away people a bit more hope. (Although to be fair, my mail is ALWAYS a day or too later than one would expect considering the proximity to NYC).

Heh so how should us people who are above that LSAT feel?WhiteGuy5 wrote:I like this theory too (in fact, I put it forward earlier in this threadcommerceclause wrote:Theory about Columbia...

But if you look at the LSATs that have been accepted, 80-90% are 173 and up. That's a little suspicious. They need to start admitting more people form their median LSAT

No mail today. West coast, late December submit. I felt like I had a decent chance with CLS but now with the recent January admits I'm not sure. Maybe a 2/14 postmarked VCE will arrive tomorrow.

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think what you said fits in with the theory. The admits so far are above the median because they are the "relatively easy" group. Next stop - closer calls. And the reason I'm not sure they'd be up to the "close call" group is that those decisions will be informed in part by what the entire applicant pool looks like. Since 2/15 is their deadline - and it takes time to process - they are not quite ready to make those close calls. Or so I hope!WhiteGuy5 wrote:I like this theory too (in fact, I put it forward earlier in this threadcommerceclause wrote:Theory about Columbia...

Columbiaaaa.
It is starting to get so late that I feel like I won't have a decision before deadlines at other places.
