I reviewed WL and Acceptances from last year on LSN today, most came in early April.

Well, the snow gods did not smile on me this weekend. I still don’t know what it feels like to make snow angels. I still don’t know what it’s like to have a snow day. I know, I know, I should just drive to the snow and get this snow angel fixation over and done with. But, it’s not the same. I don’t even have a snow globe on my desk to shake and make me feel less pouty. So, I guess I’ll have to be distracted by work instead.

Regarding work, let me tell you about the most aggravating pieces of paper on my desk right now. As you might imagine, we’ve had requests asking to submit late applications. These requests never come in with specific reasons for the late filing – I think these applicants believe we’ll not notice. In any case, staff always reaches out asking for the reasons behind the lateness. And, what do we hear back? “I just decided I want to go to law school in the last few weeks.” “My job opportunity fell through and I find myself with time on my hands.” “I’ve been busy with classes.” “I’ve been down with the flu.” Really? These are not good reasons and you need not worry that any of the people behind these requests are competing with you for seats in the class. I’m waiting for “The dog ate my application.” I have a feeling it’s gonna come one of these days.

I heard this song on the radio as I drove in this morning. OK, I’m now done being pouty. You gotta smile if you can start the day like this – it’s my Tuesday morning gift to you.

Okay, it's almost lunchtime, and since we all know that lawl school admissions is all about making decisions on a full stomach, we should be hearing something from Palo Alto soon, no?

Since I'm on the East Coast I always forget that Stanford is 3 hours behind, and I end up getting this false sense of security that it's 3pm here so I survived another day. No, Fish, it's 12 noon and your ding is coming.....

Actually, yes. Berkeley gives you a nice date to wait for to get your decision. I think other schools should start taking notes on that.

I've already lost it. It's been a painful process seeing myself become slightly crazier each day--but by now I think that no trace of sanity yet remains.

I keep logging into status checker and hoping not to see "DLS." If we make it to April with no DLS, does it mean we made it to the final review? From what I understand, Stanford holds onto some apps till April to get a holistic feel for the applicant pool.

I have to accept/decline a scholarship by April 15th. Hopefully I get a decision by then. At some point do you guys think I should email and let them know about this deadline, and if so, when do you think it would be appropriate to send this email?

send it when waitlists officially are released. whether you get one or not, that's when we will know for sure where we stand as far as faculty review.

Anyway you should email them 3 weeks out so they have time to make a decision with being rushed. It's reasonable to ask now actually since the status checker say they try to get you a decision by 4/30. If you are not asking for a decision - if you write as informational only, I would probably just do it now.
