So why do we think some of us go UR and just stay there...while others go UR on later dates? That is, why don't they just hold/WL/reject us if they reviewed us but are not ready to accept us?!? I thought I was an auto DING, but this UR business, without the ding, just gives me a bizarre sense of hope...

Very good question. I'd like to think it means we're on the fence between admit and WL, and they're holding us to see how many spots open as people withdraw before they make the final decision? Of course, I'd also like to think that today is the day and they'll finally contact me with good news, but I've been leaning on that hope every weekday since 3/15 to no avail so far, so maybe I should just bury my head in the sand until August. As it stands right now, my cycle has completely stalled and it doesn't look like I'll hear a peep from my remaining aps (Penn, Cornell, Texas, NYU) until May or July .

Application complete 2/9/2010, UR on 3/25/2010 with no application status updates since then. Am I perhaps de facto waitlisted until they have a better idea of who is going to commit? Is it even possible, nevermind likely, that somebody would be accepted this late.

My numbers: 3.65 gpa at weak undergrad, 174 lsat on a retake, 23 years old, over 5 years of work experience (often worked two jobs while in school), heavy volunteer, heavy campus leadership, speak Arabic, collegiate athlete... basically good numbers, weak undergrad, nice softs. What do you all think? Thanks a bunch! (please note, I am going to post this same message for a couple other schools I haven't heard from yet, same situation... haha)

Honestly, I think nobody knows. I went UR 3/15 then again 3/22 and have since heard nothing. There seem to be a lot of us who've been held following an initial wave or two of reviews.

I work 2 blocks from the law school and have been by twice to no avail. They did give me a brochure with a self-guided tour. Admittedly, I didn't schedule anything like a visit since I can go by anytime and have talked to a ton of Penn Law kids. I did ask on my first visit when the best time to come by was and then went by at that time with the same result. The secretary was very polite but was basically like, "They told me not to let any unadmitted applicants in; I'm sure they are reviewing your application." Best of luck though.

PS Still UR 3/9 after first going UR 3/3.
