I think we need to stick to the plan everyone !
Calm down !
As Shakespeare said, what's past is prologue.
There will most likely be a flurry of JS2's Friday (no earlier than tomorrow) right before HLS breaks -- just like last year.
Stay the course !!

(it worries me that we're actually a very small group of the applicant pool, but i think we're big enough to have a few hits if JS2's indeed were coming out today)

It isn't that bad as 150/6000 IMO. People on here are probably far more likely than the average applicant to get a JS1 and JS2...

Yeah we have 96 people in the spreadsheet w/ a JS1, so more like 96/1200 is represented here, i.e. 8% of the JS1 pool. And TLS is probably even further over represented as far as who gets JS2s. Still though, koala's point stands. We are only 8% of the total JS1s, so its possible that people get them without someone ITT getting one.wtrc wrote:It isn't that bad as 150/6000 IMO. Edit: Above analysis is false as it assumes that all JS1's have been given out. Obviously that's not the case!

Actually, the odds of it are really small.lawschool22 wrote:Yeah we have 96 people in the spreadsheet w/ a JS1, so more like 96/1200 is represented here, i.e. 8% of the JS1 pool. If we assume that they sent out like 30 acceptances, the odds that that nobody from TLS gets one is only like 8%. And that keeps decreasing drastically if more people were in the batch

But I still think it's more.... I bet they've only given out half of the JS1's, maybe less- it's still early. So we actually could be at nearly 20% or higher? Also, nobody on LSN has updated their profile. Perhaps OPs friend is just posting the news a few weeks late?

Actually that's a very good point. You're right, if they've given out less than half or even a third of JS1's we are much more represented, between 15-25% at least. Not to mention there are probably people on TLS who haven't filled out the spreadsheet.wtrc wrote:But I still think it's more.... I'll repeat what I said yesterday in the Stanford thread when people were questioning the first reported acceptance of the day: it's easy to forget that TLS is a tiny fraction of the overall applicant pool. There are ~150 people on the Harvard spreadsheet, and over 6,000 people will apply to Harvard by the time the cycle ends. We are not a representative sample.

There are also quite a few lurkers on the spreadsheet, so spreadsheet members may not be participating ITT.wtrc wrote:But I still think it's more.... Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
If you look at this google doc https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub ... SlE&gid=30 you can see that the people on LSN typically make up between 15-20% of the acceptances. If you count people without LSN profiles who use TLS that number will go up even more. I think it is pretty safe to assume that around 25% of accepted applicants use TLS or LSN. It seems extremely unlikely if there was any significant wave of acceptances that it wouldn't be reported by multiple individuals on these sites.wtrc wrote:But I still think it's more.... If we are 15%, the odds of 30 acceptances going out without someone from TLS getting one are like .7%.lawschool22 wrote:Actually that's a very good point. I'd give about a 5% chance of a massive wave of JS2s coming today, but I'm still super nervous.
