If you're out of school and have a FT job, can you send anything other than an LOCI? Not much has changed on my resume since I submitted...At least nothing the law school would really care about
Wondering the same thing...I want to let them know I'm still very much interested, but I've been out of school since last May and still doing the same thing I was doing when I sent my application in, so don't have any updates or any real info to include in an LOCI that would be of interest to the adcom. Sending a one paragraph LOCI basically saying I'm still interested because well, you're Columbia, seems silly.

Same here. I think I'll just take the opportunity to craft a Why Columbia? LOCI with all of my excitement on their academic programs, clinics, etc.
Not that they'll care at all.

I was going to talk about why Columbia was a good fit for my interests. You know, tell them I love them for more than their good looks.

Held as well. Guess this means my PS wasn't that terrible (since it's not a ding).

+1. I am just so down with it all. Just waiting on my rejection letter to come in the mail at this point.

Does anyone know what "first reserve" means, or is this just what they call everyone they WL? Should I feel special, is what I'm really asking.

Also reserved via email.
Is a soft rejection better than a straight rejection? I'm leaning towards no...

CLS starts cutting people from reserve in May iirc. The people who survive the first cut become "second reserve," and the people who survive the second become "third reserve."

That's kind of my problem though

It's hard for me to make an argument that Columbia is the best fit for my interests..they're not the strongest in Environmental Law. If admitted I would still attend over UVA, again just because it's Columbia, but there's no real elegant way to put that in a LOCI.
Then again, not like it matters at this point. The #'s in today's hold group are just depressing for a 171/3.5x hold to look at!

Reserved. Ugh.
If I've got May summer start at Michigan (which I could definitely end up doing), what the hell should I do? Would they give me a firm decision by late April if I pushed hard or really hold me til May?

When people on this thread say they are "held," is that different from being on "reserve"? I am asking because I just got the email putting me on reserve. I was under the impression that a hold was more like a deferral and that reserve means waitlist.

I don't know whether I should feel lucky or doomed for being one of the few "forgottens" remaining.

correct. after being put on hold, you can be accepted, reserved or denied. once you're reserved though, you're pretty much done (unless you're a very high splitter).
