I wanted to issue a friendly reminder to everyone that in addition to your FAFSA, do not forget to fill out the Wash U financial aid form as well.

I've had a real hell of a time getting the specific breakdown of my loans, so if you have not done this already, now is a good time to start!

ETA: OP has been updated reflecting the above information.

So, decided not to just write another university off based on being in an expensive city. Checked craigslist for apartments.

Yup. But the same thing happens in NYC and also some areas of Boston and Chicago. And if you start looking at apts in LA for USC/UCLA you get equally depressed

Yeah, the only schools that trump WUSTL on just the cost of living are Vanderbilt and Emory because I could live with family. But LOL at me getting any scholarship from them.

Emory? I could definitely see you getting decent scholly from Emory. At the very least you could try to use any WUSTL scholly you get to leverage money out of them.

Not that that'll be a concern during 1L, at least. More like, "shntn, you didn't come home again last night!" "Yeah, library, more coffee, now..."

But yeah, I've been fantasizing about having my own office in St. Louis. I study a lot better with dedicated space. (No, I don't need a shredder or inbox/outbox, just a TLS-free zone.)

I was thinking about that a lot actually. I'v been living alone for the past 7-8 years or so and now I'm contemplating getting a house with other 1Ls (wherever that will be :| ) just because I think it'll help me get motivated about doing work and will also give me a little big of an experience

Eh, I think living alone or maybe with one roommate is the way to go. For me, anyway. I need to be able to do my thing without being distracted or worried about anyone else.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
