Who said they got 5,987 applications?? That was class of 2014 and it's about 5,000 for class of 2015 and it's probably in between 4,000 and 4,500 for 2013-2016.epgenius wrote:I don't understand how they can be close to filling their class right now... if you take the number of accepted and attending on LSN from the group of applicants in general (8/413) and multiply that out by the number of applications they state in total that they've received (5,987) you get the following: 5,987/413 = 14.496 * 8 = 115
By the numbers, they should only have 115 people in the class right now, if we take the group of LSN applicants as a case study. Even adding A LOT of variability, upwards of 30-40 extra people (or 30% sway), there should still easily be 25-30 spots available. Very confusing...

Re: USC c/o 2016 Applicants
In that case, they would only have around 85 people based on LSN stats. That doesn't make any sense at all unless they're gonna do a free for all and accept basically everyone on the waitlist... getting kind of late for that. Even if you upped the variance to say 70 people (83% variance -- which seems ridiculous) you'd still have 30 spots left.zman wrote:Who said they got 5,987 applications?? Can all the lurkers who aren't on LSN just state their being so? This thread has been dominated by WL people hoping to get in the last 3 months so it'd be really helpful if we had a better idea of gleaning what our chances may be at this point...b123 wrote:I'm not on LSN and I'm attending USC.

Re: USC c/o 2016 Applicants
in via snail mail!!!! 3.6/166, USC undergrad, 100% depositing there.
Its really weird because I haven't heard of anyone else getting snail mail, and my letter was worded like an email (i.e. it said "expect a letter in the post in the next few days"). I never received an email with admitted students username/password so I had to call the office to get it from them.
The deadline to deposit is tomorrow at 5:00pm, If I hadn't checked the mail today...
GL to those still waiting and don't give up hope!
Edit: I also forgot to mention I got 20k/yr, so I really think the rest of you 3.6/166s are going to be getting some good news in the coming weeks. No way they give that to me without their median dropping to 166

Congrats man! The letter is bizzare....they must have messed something up in the office in regard to your email notification. Mind letting us know when the letter is dated?
Thanks!

Re: USC c/o 2016 Applicants
I think USC will probably lose a ton of people to T-14s and maybe UCLA once those schools start handing out final waitlist acceptances so there is still time. It's not over by any means if you are serious about possibly going to USC.

yeah you might be one of many. USC class might fall apart because so many will get off the waitlist elsewhere. Allegedly they want 180-185 but that's not likely if they want to keep their medians. more like 160-170 at best.RetakeFrenzy wrote:Just withdrew from USC.

IF apps continue to decline next year, USC might start offering full rides to a lot people like WUSTL this year. One can only hope.
