You mean people getting pulled from the WL? No, won't happen until after May 1st.LRGhost wrote:We haven't seen WL movement, correct?

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I don't expect an early decision, what I meant was that if people who went complete in January are just now going under review, my app (which went complete months later) wouldn't be expected to a go under review for a couple more months (by which point I'm sure they'll have almost a full class and a waitlist full of people with great credentials who have been sending in LOCI and been visible to the admissions committee for months).Mal Reynolds wrote:This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If you sent in your app late, why should you expect an early decision? Also there is an appreciable boost if you ED but if you're going to retake I wouldn't ED at all. Most people shouldn't ED since you lose all of your bargaining power with schools.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:At the rate I see everyone's apps going under review, I am starting to seriously doubt that they are even going to glance at my application this cycle. Why accept applications in March if you're just getting to your January pile? (I know, I know; it's a ridiculously late app, but the point remains.)
On a completely random note: I know I could search for this or dig through 80 pages of posts, but what's the current general consensus on the boost for ED applicants to UChicago? Between my not exactly perfect credentials (currently- here's hoping for a lovely LSAT retake), my insanely late application, and my irrational love for this school, I'm seriously considering giving next cycle a try.
Glad to hear ED helps; it may be foolish, but I've got it in my head that this is the school I want to go to. And with a less than stellar GPA (~3.5), I imagine even a fantastic LSAT retake score won't give me a sure spot. I'm hoping for the waitlist at best this cycle.

That's why you don't apply in March.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:if people who went complete in January are just now going under review, my app (which went complete months later) wouldn't be expected to a go under review for a couple more months (by which point I'm sure they'll have almost a full class and a waitlist full of people with great credentials who have been sending in LOCI and been visible to the admissions committee for months).

And let's also assume chicago is rational. They will accept who they need to accept. Why wouldn't they accept applications in March, especially since it sounds like you're going to stay on and way for an answer for a long time.TripTrip wrote:That's why you don't apply in March.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:if people who went complete in January are just now going under review, my app (which went complete months later) wouldn't be expected to a go under review for a couple more months (by which point I'm sure they'll have almost a full class and a waitlist full of people with great credentials who have been sending in LOCI and been visible to the admissions committee for months).

How did you find out?! And will they be going to the same 180/4.0 crowd as the Ruby or is any other factor thrown in?

I think it's actually primarily need-based. The alumnus who donated the money was a first generation, low income law student so she wanted to enable others to do the same. I'm sure there is a merit component as well, though.StarJammer wrote:switchis32 wrote:holy shit! so I found out on wednesday and I was only now able to come here. but they def are giving out the cafaro awards this year!

One of my hosts at ASW said almost anyone with a decent reason can get one.switchis32 wrote:does anyone know how lenient chicago usually is on deferrals?

I really have no insight into what he considered a good reason - he was mainly talking to one of my other hostees - but it certainly can't hurt to ask.switchis32 wrote:is being offered a position in a law firm a good reason?cwid1391 wrote:One of my hosts at ASW said almost anyone with a decent reason can get one.switchis32 wrote:does anyone know how lenient chicago usually is on deferrals?

Went UR1 on 3/29, went UR2 on 4/18. Seem to have missed the most recent wave of UR3s. This doesn't bode well

Went UR 1 on 3/29 and haven't heard anything since. Really don't know what to make of this (some kind of soft rejection?) but pretty bummed.

UR1, 4/17. UR2 4/26.
Does Chicago do decisions on weekends?

anyone submit in january but not hear back yet? I submitted on the 31st and went complete on 2/15. haven't heard a single word since. how is it possible that I haven't been rejected or waitlisted yet (I'm assuming I won't be admitted, at least not without being wait listed first) with the deposit deadline coming up I presume on wednesday?
I called back in early april and was told that they had just begun to look at january applications, which I think has been confirmed already in this thread.
