Bah, I know UR 1/23 is nothing major.. but now that I'm hearing from more and more schools I just makes me more antsy about not having heard a pep from my DREAM

I went UR really recently, 2/8. Is there any standard wait time before hearing back? Also, how do they let you know of their admissions decision -- email, snail mail, phone, status checker?

The wait time depends on what your decision is. If you're getting in, based on the pattern of the past couple of months, you'll probably hear via phone call in the next few weeks after your status checker changes to Decision Letter Sent. If you're getting rejected you might hear that as well, though idk how. Waitlists probably won't go out till April.

So, I've been under review at NYU since mid October.... anyone else enduring a similar wait? Is it time to send a LOCI? My numbers are fringy at NYU. Not a hail mary, but a probable waitlist, so I'd think they would know I will attend if I'm admitted.

How much longer after applying did you all receive your status checkers. I applied extremely late in the game out of both interest and curiosity. Thanks for the patience in helping me out; I simply don't have the time to page through all of this forums' pages.

you will get it either the first or second tuesday after you sent the app in

edit: you've got some strong numbers, I assume your curiosity rests more so on whether you would get a scholly as opposed to whether or not you would get accepted

I applied late Oct and was UR until 2/6 when my status changed to DLS, I expected a call or at least a (rejection) letter in the mail last week, but haven't heard anything either way (no email dinging me either). Anyone know what that could mean?

PopTorts ... and I apologize that I cannot simply be a nice guy about this.. but you are REALLY a frustrating peer on this board. I'd often rather you simply feel the burn of the toaster while researching your white bread questions than subject me to your burned glaze.

Someone already answered his question. There's not any need to tell him he's annoying. I'd much rather spend a day with someone nice (like PopTorts) who has a lot of questions and some people may feel is annoying than all the people on this board who are rude for no reason other than to be rude. Would you ever say that to an acquaintance in real life?

Edit - I'm not trying to single you out, and I'm sure you're not rude in real life. But everyone needs to stop hating on PopTorts, seriously.

Yeah, I thought dings were by email and not accompanied with a DLS. But I could be wrong.

Does NYU prefer LOCIs by e-mail or US mail? Schools are different in this regard: Penn prefers e-mail, but Harvard prefers US mail.

I THINK my ding got held up by my ".edu" email address - when I called the admin basically confirmed my email address and skimmed over confirming my mailing address/ didn't confirm my phone number. LAME. Hopefully this doesn't happen for anyone else, because it's super frustrating.

Alternatively, can anyone confirm that the rejection email doesn't come with a DLS status?

Check the LSN data from last year. NYU seems to admit in order of submission, and if you get "passed over" you are probably headed for a WL/Deny.

not sure if this helps you guys, but i was rejected mid-january. i received the email in the afternoon and my status checker said decision letter sent. good luck to all!
