Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Got $45K from Michigan in the mail yesterday. Or a $45K scholarship, rather.
I'm a little ashamed not to have withdrawn by now, though. I thought maybe if they gave me the Dean's Scholarship (which they did) that they'd offer to pay for my visit to ASW (which they didn't). Now that I know I won't even be visiting, I'll probably withdraw the week after next (I'll be in Kentucky for business all this week).
I was accepted on Nov. 10 FWIW.

According to Michigan's Admissions FAQ, when it's likely that an applicant will be classified as in-state, they give him the benefit of the doubt, and having Michigan residency can give a slight boost in the admissions process. However, it might still be to your advantage to get that done before a decision, if only so you wouldn't have to worry about it later (and to settle the matter definitively and hopefully to your advantage!).
By the way, if it's obvious from your application that you qualify as a Michigan resident (eg: went to high school/college here, worked here, have family living here, etc.), or if you went to Michigan undergrad and were counted as in-state then, I'd contact the Residency Classification Office directly first, explain your situation, and ask whether you actually need to submit the application. In some cases, they will be able to classify you as a resident just based on the information you've provided in your law school application (they'll even pull it for you so you don't need to provide them with a copy) without you needing to submit anything else. Good luck.
THANKS! that helps a lot!

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Just got an email asking if I received my packet. The wording that showed up in the preview nearly caused my heart to stop, as I thought it was saying that they admitted me by mistake! This is all I saw in the preview:
" little more than a week ago, we sent you a big packet. We hate to ruin the"

Dean's Scholarship, $45,000 over 3 years.
Nearly fainted. For the uninitiated:
3.2 ugpa

ED
Wasn't expecting much of anything to be sure, so when I opened the letter I was caught completely off guard, nearly fell over.

Congrats to the new money people and the new admits!
On the one hand, stupid postal holiday. On the other hand, my city finally got a Chipotle--completely out of the way, of course--so I'm feeling pretty good. I shouldn't be on TLS anyway, got drafting to do.

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Question for those having received scholarship offers. Did anything update on your mail and money section on the admitted students website? My postal mail has been messed up for the last month or so (hasn't been forwarding to a new address properly) and I contacted Michigan to find out if anything has been sent during that time that I haven't received. I was told to check my mail and money tab but there was nothing there.
Does anybody have anything showing up under the mail and money tab?

Got my scholarship saturday but nothing on the mail and money section. I also got my housing packet on Friday and that does not show up either.JetstoRJC wrote:Question for those having received scholarship offers. "Decision" on the status checker, unable to login to the AS site. Does that mean an outright rejection?!
