In w/ a Butler. Postmarked 1/27. Living in DC.
For the record, I had a request for grades 1/12, overall GPA went down about .04, which slipped me below a 3.8. Now I'm wondering if my lack of concern for grades last semester ruined chance at a Hamilton. Either way, I'm ecstatic and 90% sure I'm going there.
PS Congrats to everyone who got in.

Congratulations! Although I'm more inclined to accept a large scholly from a T30 over Columbia anyhow. More because the wife-to-be would not be as tolerant of living in a tiny studio apt.parker09 wrote:I got in with a 4.2... don't despair!
Who knows what the future may hold, though.

Ha, I only mean the 3.6-.3.8 / 173 part, the rest can be false! I want this letter bad, such a slow cycle, today Penn went UR and Cornell went complete, but I though for sure something more exciting would happen this week.VoidSix wrote:

In with Hamilton today and flabbergasted. This decision just got a lot harder.

Following this thread is an exercise in masochism and like any good self-abuser I can't tear myself away!
I'm an URM (black guy) with a 4.0 index and during my obsessive LSN sessions I see people with the same index and URM status admitted and rejected randomly. I have no idea where I stand...

Damn, I said after the Sept. test that I probably needed one more point for a Hamilton or Butler... this seems to affirm that.dcchillin wrote:In w/ a Butler. Postmarked 1/27. Living in DC.

Those missed questions are costly, aren't they? If I end up at Columbia, I'll probably think about the incredibly careless LG mistake I made each time I accept more loan debt before a semester.GeePee wrote:Damn, I said after the Sept. test that I probably needed one more point for a Hamilton or Butler... this seems to affirm that.dcchillin wrote:In w/ a Butler. LOL you guys are so depressing. I guess it's good practice to be cynical for when we become lawyers

I missed 3 questions by miss-bubbling, I feel your pain. Every time I think about it I have a sudden desire to jam a fork into my leg.Dignan wrote:Those missed questions are costly, aren't they? Don't get me wrong; I am happy to be accepted by Columbia. It's just funny how much of an impact that one or two missed LSAT questions can have on one's future. Everyone on TLS knows this, of course, but the Named Scholarship/No Scholarship line at Columbia really drives it home.blue5385 wrote:+1, I know that if I had gotten a VCE this past week, I'd be doing a jig out of pure happiness (even with the prospect of all that debt)fidesverita wrote:LOL you guys are so depressing. Re: Columbia 2010
Not sure if this will make you feel better, but I don't think it's *so* strictly based on numbers. A friend of mine who's ~3.8/~175 just got the Hamilton today, and last year when I applied I had better numbers for both and I got absolutely nothing. $ from law schools appears to be more of a crapshoot than admissions...Dignan wrote:Don't get me wrong; I am happy to be accepted by Columbia. Re: Columbia 2010
I think the first time you get a 180 on a practice test, you are perpetually set up for disappointment. I got a few 178s on PTs and was still thinking in terms of my average (which was like 173-4). Then my last few PTs before the test were 180s, and suddenly I wasn't okay with 173 anymore.blue5385 wrote:That's definitely a valid point (no pun intended), I feel terrible about the two questions I missed that separated me from getting a 180 in Sept. Since I have a low GPA, that would have made a huge difference in terms of schools I am worried about, like Columbia & Chicago. Apart from the lucky mfers who actually scored 180 though, I think most people have LSAT regretsDignan wrote:Don't get me wrong; I am happy to be accepted by Columbia.
