No hold, No JS1. Complete mid-November.
They're coming for me.

Am I wrong in thinking this? I know "hold" is supposed to only mean "we haven't forgotten about you." But, can it also mean "you're not an automatic reject?" If they looked at our apps, instead of making their lives easier and just rejecting us, leaving less but more relevant applicants for them to consider come February, they decided to hold onto us. It would've been easier to just send that generic rejection e-mail, but they held onto us. It can't be too crazy to think that it hints at us having some chance of getting in.

Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I don't think anyone is saying a hold means no chance to get in. It's just that after a string of acceptances post-JS1, a lot of people with great numbers who already had their JS1 were kind of expecting "Well, where's mine?" And while the hold definitely means, we're still considering you, it's a little disheartening after expecting, or at least hoping, that JS2 was coming any day now.WalkingPlato wrote:Am I wrong in thinking this? H is covering all their bases. They're making their lives easier by not throwing out waves of rejections, but rather holding onto as many applicants as they might need to make sure their medians are where they want them to be.WalkingPlato wrote:Am I wrong in thinking this? It isn't "crazy" to think that those being held still have a chance to get in because people do eventually get accepted out of the hold pool. But it is crazy to think that your chances are good (at least based on the previous hold threads I've perused).

Digifly omg
I just want to hug everyone who got held. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of you in Cambridge anyway eventually.

I don't know if anyone else behind me has seen movement, but I went complete 12/19 (well, status checker said complete 12/19 but I got the complete email 12/20) and got my JS1 12/21. I think I just squeaked in at the back of the pile they looked at before the holidays.broadstreet11 wrote:What is the latest complete date from which someone has gotten movement? Mid December? Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Currently 206 members. How should you interpret this? My take is that there are still TONS of spots unfilled. Taking a look at last year, there was a HUGE # of admits (relatively speaking for WL trends) from those that were held and/or waitlisted.masked kavana wrote:Is the Harvard class of 2016 FB filling up?
Also keep in mind that not all admits are in the fb group. But also keep in mind that not all 206 admits in the fb group will enroll at HLS this fall.
Best of luck to everyone that was held and to those waiting for any sort of response!

I was complete 11/28 and got a JS1 1/3 - I was pretty sure I was going to be passed over altogether at that point.txwalt wrote:I don't know if anyone else behind me has seen movement, but I went complete 12/19 (well, status checker said complete 12/19 but I got the complete email 12/20) and got my JS1 12/21. There was one other JS1 with that date. See below.txwalt wrote:I don't know if anyone else behind me has seen movement, but I went complete 12/19 (well, status checker said complete 12/19 but I got the complete email 12/20) and got my JS1 12/21.
