I was, but I got freaked out by how much more expensive it looked on craigslist than HP. Any tips on better places to look?scoutmaster wrote:anyone else looking to live in south loop during 1L year

Not even under review yet. Chicago was the 3rd app I submitted. When I played "predict where the person above you is going," the person below me guessed Chicago. Looks like that was a big fat no.

I must have hung out with the same crowd as you.Crowing wrote:I must've hung out with a totally different crowd than you guys. Almost everybody I met was deciding Chi vs CLS/NYU and other than maybe like 2 people they were all leaning or already committed to Chicago. I only talked extensively with one person who was in at H and he was prepared to turn it down for Chi.
Although I also tried not to talk about LS with anybody I met lol and never brought it up so that might have had something to do with it too.

FYI, Chicago responded to my Scholarship Review request. PM if interested.
also on a somewhat related note I realize I sometimes forget to respond to PM's, I start drafting the response and get distracted, please forgive me I will try.

Has anyone had any trouble with submitting their scholarship review form? I can't get mine to submit. All it does is clear the field where I tried to upload my offer. They allowed me to send a form past the deadline, but obviously time is of the essence. :/

I went complete 2/13 and nothing since then, not even under review! I applied late in the cycle, but this is getting seriously ridiculous...

UR1 3/29, UR2 4/26. Chicago's really taking its time with my app!

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
At the rate I see everyone's apps going under review, I am starting to seriously doubt that they are even going to glance at my application this cycle. Why accept applications in March if you're just getting to your January pile? (I know, I know; it's a ridiculously late app, but the point remains.)
On a completely random note: I know I could search for this or dig through 80 pages of posts, but what's the current general consensus on the boost for ED applicants to UChicago? Between my not exactly perfect credentials (currently- here's hoping for a lovely LSAT retake), my insanely late application, and my irrational love for this school, I'm seriously considering giving next cycle a try.

Complete 02/01, UR1 04/23, UR2 04/26 ... definitely a confusing timeline. I thought they were never going to look at my application. At any rate, glad to see some move.

Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If you sent in your app late, why should you expect an early decision? Also there is an appreciable boost if you ED but if you're going to retake I wouldn't ED at all. Most people shouldn't ED since you lose all of your bargaining power with schools.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:At the rate I see everyone's apps going under review, I am starting to seriously doubt that they are even going to glance at my application this cycle. Re: Chicago c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
This is true, but Chicago seems to give out roughly the same scholarship to ED applicants as they do to RD, which is considerate of them since, as you said, they really don't need to.Mal Reynolds wrote:This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I can testify to the fact that there is a genuine boost with Chicago ED. I know for sure I would not have gotten in without it. PM if you need more details.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:At the rate I see everyone's apps going under review, I am starting to seriously doubt that they are even going to glance at my application this cycle. And yes, Chicago does give aid to ED'ers, but not always. You should be prepared to pay sticker if you ED.
I would only ED if you are not expecting much aid at other schools or you have some particular reason to be in Chicago.
