I'm WL and visited last week. Was told they will be sending out calls for interviews during the first week or two of May, if that helps anyone.

Thank you for this. Now I'll make sure not to get overly excited from a philly number.LRGhost wrote:I'm WL and visited last week. Was told they will be sending out calls for interviews during the first week or two of May, if that helps anyone.

Does anyone know if EDing at Penn gives any sort of measurable boost? It's my dream school but I was WLed this cycle after applying in January. I know it means you have no bargaining power in the case of an acceptance, but with my stats, I would have to pay sticker anyway.

No idea what your stats are, but 3.3+/170+ is basically auto admit for Penn ED (and you have a chance with a 3.0+/172+). Very hard wall at 170 (if you're a splitter). Not much of a boost for reverse splitters, since if you have the 3.9+ GPA needed to get in ED, just retake the LSAT and enjoy HYS.syd625 wrote:Does anyone know if EDing at Penn gives any sort of measurable boost? I'm a 3.2/170 URM. If I thought I had a serious chance, I would definitely sit this cycle out and ED.SportsFan wrote:No idea what your stats are, but 3.3+/170+ is basically auto admit for Penn ED (and you have a chance with a 3.0+/172+). If you weren't URM, I'd say its 50/50, but those stats + being URM should definitely be a lock for ED. That said, I'm not expert on URM boosts, but surely those #'s should get you acceptances at other schools and maybe some $$$?syd625 wrote:I'm a 3.2/170 URM. It was tempting, but I crunched the numbers using Shadow's and Regulus' debt pwnage calculators and I need at least $1.50 to make it doable.JamesDean1955 wrote:You mean you declined that $1 scholarship? What's wrong with you man...helix23 wrote:Withdrew. Maybe one of you is down to pay sticker?

SportsFan,
I do have a couple of good/decent options, but I really love Penn. I guess I'll just have to see how the rest of my cycle shakes out and decide if the gamble is worth it or not. Thanks for the advice!

Totally up to you, then. FWIW, I applied ED and don't regret it (though we'll see what I'm thinking after I get my grades this semester haha), though due to some other circumstances I'm "only" going to graduate with ~$150k-$170k in debt.syd625 wrote:SportsFan,

Can anyone confirm that the deposit deadline is a postmark date (can I just mail it to them Wednesday)?

If you ED'd do you still have to deposit? The reason why I am asking is because I haven't received any notifications that my seat deposit is due in the mail or email.

I spoke with the admissions office and was told that it is a post-mark date, although you may want to double check.JamesDean1955 wrote:Can anyone confirm that the deposit deadline is a postmark date (can I just mail it to them Wednesday)?

Hey, not sure if this is the appropriate thread but for anyone whos going to UPenn and hasnt found an apartment yet, we just got a place at 2040 market. They're offering $500 for referrals, if anyone here wants to PM me we'd be happy to split that with anyone who wants to live there. It's a little pricey (~$1900), but not bad for a couple. Amazing location. Cheers, good luck to everyone,

Has anyone who was at Penn ASW or Preview Day received their travel reimbursement in the mail yet?

Yes you most certainly do. If you log into the status checker site it will tell you the due date at the topbumblebeetuna wrote:If you ED'd do you still have to deposit? The reason why I am asking is because I haven't received any notifications that my seat deposit is due in the mail or email.

Re: Penn C/O 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
Hello! I'm pretty new to this site, but I had a question I was wondering if anyone could answer.
Does anyone know if we are notified of the outcome of review for merit scholarships whether we get any money or not? A few weeks ago I sent some competitive offers to the scholarship committee and received an email reply saying the standard "we don't match but will keep it in mind when reviewing your file and will be making decisions up to the deposit deadline" but at the end they said "we will be in contact soon." I assumed this meant that they would email everyone regardless of whether you actually received any money, just so that everyone knew the outcome for sure. However, it's now past the deposit deadline and I haven't heard anything from the scholarship committee. I mailed my deposit anyway because I was nervous they would give away my spot if I didn't get it in on time and they emailed me yesterday confirming reciept of the check but didn't mention anything else.

They definitely do not notify everyone who is not awarded a merit scholarship - I had to contact them to find out I wouldn't be receiving one. If you haven't been notified by now, you shouldn't be getting one.Cgs21 wrote:Hello! I'm pretty new to this site, but I had a question I was wondering if anyone could answer.
