Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Hi all! I got my admission letter today in the mail, postmarked February 14, and I am thrilled.
FYI - I submitted my application on 1/15, it went complete on 1/24, and I live in Manhattan. Stats: LSAT 175, GPA 3.67, and pretty good but not extraordinary softs (lots of community service working w/ under-resourced teens and 4+ years of research and full-time work experience in my main academic interest, which is US & European financial economics. Also sorry if this made me sound like the biggest nerd ever.)
Good luck to all those still waiting!

Congrats to hazedandconfused!
As to everyone else who is still waiting: there is hope, but with January submitters that don't have auto-admit numbers getting in, I'd say we're heading into not-so-good-territory. I'm bracing for the worst.

Since when is a 3.65 auto-admit, let alone Columbia median?luxxe wrote:Huh? Didn't they all have 173+/3.65+?WhiteGuy5 wrote:Congrats to hazedandconfused!

Tbf, that poster had a 175 and most GPAs have been higher. Columbia's medians are 172/3.72. Maybe they aren't auto-admit, but it seems like most are at/above both medians or JUST below. We don't know what not hearing back yet means.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Since when is a 3.65 auto-admit, let alone Columbia median?luxxe wrote:Huh? Yeah. Also.. aren't they all in NYC? Maybe our letters are just in the mail right nowFryBreadPower wrote:

I'm kind of scared of getting held in a few weeks, but mostly I am fucking ecstatic that I haven't been rejected or reserved yet.

One of the people accepted today was a September submit, so I don't think it's time to lose hope if you haven't heard back yet.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Congrats to hazedandconfused!

Wow, sounds like a ton of action in NY today. Hopefully the rest of us hear something over the next few days.

Yeah with 2/14 postmark dates. I don't know where you guys are but I'm out here on the west coast so there is no way a VCE would make it out here by now if it had the same post mark date. I'll give it three or four days before I start freaking out about it.luxxe wrote:Yeah. Also.. aren't they all in NYC? Maybe our letters are just in the mail right nowFryBreadPower wrote:

That September submitter had a 180 on the LSAT.luxxe wrote:Yeah. Also.. aren't they all in NYC? Maybe our letters are just in the mail right nowFryBreadPower wrote:

Honestly, I'd be super pissed to get Held. I've driven myself so crazy waiting for CLS that getting put on Hold would be the most nerve-racking thing to happen. I just want an up and down vote on my app
Also: to add to my pessimism, I am within the vicinity of CLS, which means I don't have an excuse for no mail!

Heh I know how you feel. I have seen two admits with identical numbers to me be admitted now and multiple others with very similar numbers. If I didn't get in it would be hard to think that I didn't do something on my application that made me look like an idiot. Plus I always feel like a jackass when people ask, "WHERE YOU GOING TO LAW SCHOOL?!?!" and "Well....IF" are the first two words out of my mouth.WhiteGuy5 wrote:That September submitter had a 180 on the LSAT.luxxe wrote:Yeah. Which.....would imply that even people with high numbers may have to wait a while. That should be encouraging. No response does not mean rejection, as september-submitter proved.WhiteGuy5 wrote: That September submitter had a 180 on the LSAT.
5+ people with my numbers have been accepted to NYU and I have got nothin'. UGH.

Thank you. This helped. I'm sick of coming off as a pretentious/pompous dick every time I go "Well I'm still waiting for Harvard and Columbia."FryBreadPower wrote: Heh I know how you feel. Sorry to drag this on brah. I know how frustrating it must be. I have a friend with similar numbers as me headed to Harvard. I'm doing a lot of this to convince myself I'm not getting held/rejected either, tbh. That line of yellow at 170 on LSN says otherwise, but I can dream.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Sorry to drag this on brah. Does anyone think Columbia could be trying to raise there LSAT median to 173 this cycle by dropping there class size?

I think you're thinking about this too much. Your numbers give you a good shot. Just hang in there.WhiteGuy5 wrote:Does anyone think Columbia could be trying to raise there LSAT median to 173 this cycle by dropping there class size?
