agreed. i'd rather have decisions ON the status checker or snail mail only, not this weird 'letter sent' status BS.whathojeeves wrote:I've been UR since Halloween. I almost wish we were back in the stone age of notification-by-mail-only, as I'm developing carpal tunnel from logging in to the status check repeatedly.

Decision letter sent today, 12/15. Do they announce rejections in December?

I applied ED, submitted in early November. Went from "under review" on 11/15 to "Decision letter sent" on 12/15. I'd like to be optimistic, but NYU is a big reach with my numbers. Suppose I will know the result in a few days either way. Good luck to everyone else still waiting.

Re: NYU 2011
Only for ED and not very often for those. If you look at last year's cycle on LSN you will see there were only 4 Rejections before January. If you're RD it is for sure an acceptance, if you're ED it is less certain at this point.ihatethisprocess wrote:Decision letter sent today, 12/15. Do they announce rejections in December?

I'm also decision letter sent 12/15. I'm ED and submitted in early November. Nyu is a reach to so I think it may be a ding.TR Fan wrote:I applied ED, submitted in early November. NYU is a huge reach for me as well. From this small sample, it seems that we're being deferred or rejected
...Anyone with stellar numbers get "Letter has been sent" on 12/15 ?

Just to echo the last few posters (sadly): NYU is my big reach, and I applied ED. Hello, sad envelope!

I've been UR since 11/8, but switched to ED soon after that date. I didn't get a change to 'decision letter sent.' My numbers are not good enough for NYU and I am expecting a ding, so since I'm an easy reject and I didn't get a change, don't think that today's changes necessarily mean that you're all dings.IsleMet wrote:NYU is a huge reach for me as well. Re: NYU 2011
is anyone out there with a 12/15 status update to "decision letter sent" an RD applicant?
Also for all of those EDs insisting NYU is a "big reach", what are we talking here? Without giving too specific info, can you say generally where you lie on the 25th, median, 75th etc. spectrum? NYU is kind of my reach too but I applied RD...curious what you're considering to be a reach with NYU..

I consider it a reach for me because I'm just below the 25th for Lsat but above the 75th for GPA.TrustMeI'mAnActress wrote:I'd like to know this as well. Still sitting at UR 11/15. yankes, you are probably in. a 4.0/168 ED is a shot. This cycle has a 168/3.9 and a 169/3.9 in, so you have a chance.

Considering everyone who has posted has said that NYU is a huge reach for them, small envelopes are probably in the mail. That being said, most people who ED are reaching so who knows.
