Re: Hofstra 2013
really surprised, but i was waitlisted at hofstra the other day. my lsat is below their 25%, and my gpa is slightly below their 75%. does anyone know how their waitlist works? i was going to call their office, but it seems a bit rude of me to ask such a question.

Are these waitlist decisions coming from the status checker or by snail mail?

I got the decision via the status checker.

gah, $400 seat deposit deadline is a week today, and i have not received my scholarship letter yet. that's going to be a big determining factor in my decision.

$20,000/year from Hoftra, renewable if top 40%. just like everyone else.dibs wrote:gah, $400 seat deposit deadline is a week today, and i have not received my scholarship letter yet. that's going to be a big determining factor in my decision.
so $5,000/year no stipulation at Richmond (77) and $20,000/year top40% stipulation at Hoftra (100).
haven't heard from my other US choices (UNLV, Drexel, Denver, Gonzaga, UND). =/

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up my 20k scholly for Maryland (43) sticker.... I'm just hesitant about the area...dibs wrote: $20,000/year from Hoftra, renewable if top 40%. just like everyone else.

Is it better to wait until you have received the official waitlist letter in the mail before you send out an LOCI or does the timing really not matter?

Re: Hofstra 2013
Omg. I just got a call from admissions offering me a full tuition scholarship! I'm very excited, but I already had my mind set on attending Cardozo - they offered me $33K per year. I never went to visit Hofstra because I wasn't going to pay sticker to attend Hofstra over Cardozo. For anyone that went to an ASD or has made up your mind on attending, what was your selling point?

I was waitlisted at Hofstra on 3/3/10 and then accepted on 3/19/10 - I'm assuming its because my February LSAT scores came in and were significantly higher. So it seems like they are capable of quick turnaround if they have a good reason to do so.

Did you send an LOCI or anything before you were accepted? I was waitlisted yesterday (found out via status checker) and was wondering if its better to wait to receive the official letter to send the LOCI or if the sooner the better applies.yoyo999 wrote:Burnsie wrote:Hey I just got waitlisted too!dannybang wrote:really surprised, but i was waitlisted at hofstra the other day. my lsat is below their 25%, and my gpa is slightly below their 75%. does anyone know how their waitlist works? i was going to call their office, but it seems a bit rude of me to ask such a question.

No I didn't send anything, just the reply card stating I would stay on the WL.NYCG8TR wrote:Did you send an LOCI or anything before you were accepted? Just got a scholarship letter for $35,000 a year while I was headed to mail my withdrawal letter. Needless to say I didn't end up sending the letter.

Re: Hofstra 2013
Just in case anyone was curious:
I emailed a request to increase my scholarship offer amount, and they didn't budge. I did not email them any new information, just a scholarship offer from another school (Not ranked higher than Hofstra though)...
So my attempt was not successful, but hope those of you who are still asking for $ have better luck!

I just got my rejection letter from Maryland's PT program today. If you don't mind me asking, what are your stats? And did you apply FT or PT?MrSoOoFLy wrote:Decided to withdraw at Maryland and put a deposit in at Hofstra...
I'm going to send a deposit slip in to Hofstra tomorrow or Wednesday by fax just to reserve a seat. I won't be disappointed if I end up going there, but I'd rather go to school a little further away from home.

I'm leaning towards Hofstra, I appealed for more scholarship $$$ and am waiting to see how that turns out. In case this helps anyone...they will give you a 7 day extension on the seat deposit if you email and ask.

Re: Hofstra 2013
Still riding out NYU, and I requested an extension as well, they gave me to the 23rd. My friends assure me I should go to Hofstra for free ($35k+GI Bill) instead of Fordham at sticker (less GI Bill money), but I should go to NYU if accepted. Either way, I'll know in about a week.bjf wrote:+1.
