Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
Does Iowa give out full scholarships to people who applied later in the cycle, or are these pretty much all used up by the time the next round of decisions goes out?

IDK about full rides but scholarships are being decided right now.

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
does an "in progress" status mean that i am "complete"? i applied to the school prior to my december lsat, but received no confirmation from them after scores were released that my admissions decision had "gone complete," or anything to that effect. also, i didn't have my isis password until recently, so i haven't been able to track any changes on my status. feeling a bit in the dark on this one. thanks for the help.

I *think* so. Trying to remember what my status said... "in progress" sounds right.Prairie wrote:does an "in progress" status mean that i am "complete"?

If current scholarship offers are declined, I know those funds can be made available to new students.tate033 wrote:Does Iowa give out full scholarships to people who applied later in the cycle, or are these pretty much all used up by the time the next round of decisions goes out?

Actually I am fairly certain that Iowa expects most people with the full ride offer not to take it. So the funds would not necessarily be released.JOThompson wrote:If current scholarship offers are declined, I know those funds can be made available to new students.tate033 wrote:Does Iowa give out full scholarships to people who applied later in the cycle, or are these pretty much all used up by the time the next round of decisions goes out?

Mine was the assistant dean of admissions or a title along those lines.

Re: U Iowa 2010 App Cycle
I'm going to make sure I hit up Iowa in my next round of applications I intend to send out Tuesday.
Did anyone do a Why Iowa statement? Their application seems to ask for a Why Iowa segment in the personal statement, but I would prefer not to mess with mine and just submit a Why Iowa statement. Right now, it's probably my second- or third-choice school. That may change with my February retake, but I would be thrilled to be in at Iowa.
And in response to someone else's question about merit-based fee waivers, I emailed their admissions office, and their criteria are either a 3.85 GPA or above, or a 165 LSAT or above.

Just tailor the last few lines toward them.

I did a "Why Iowa" but seeing as I haven't yet been admitted i'm not sure it helped much...we'll see!

I feel like this makes it look phony, though. Like you have your personal statement and you just tacked on a line or two at the last minute to placate the school. I probably could summarize it in two sentences, though. I really want to move back to the Midwest, and Iowa's a great school in the Midwest.sckon wrote: Just tailor the last few lines toward them.

That's what I did. And fwiw, on my acceptance letter, the Assistant Dean wrote a personal note that related directly to what I tailored the last few lines toward.

What's with the class rank business on question G6 of the application form? Would that be provided on the transcript sent through LSAC, or do I really have to have my undergrad institution send them a letter? I haven't seen such a question on any other application.

They wont review your app until your undergrad sends a letter.

I know that they will, because I have already been accepted and didn't even know about this. But JCougar should probably follow directions and do it anyways.sckon wrote:JCougar wrote:What's with the class rank business on question G6 of the application form? Same, I never sent my class rank either, since I was going to wait until after graduation. Much to my surprise, they accepted me without it. However, this may be because of the particular school that CyLaw and I attended as undergrads (another big Iowa public school). Definitely go ahead and get the class rank to them, regardless.CyLaw wrote:I know that they will, because I have already been accepted and didn't even know about this. You might also want to take a look at your transcripts (as transcribed by LSAC). They list a class rank on that. FWIW, I know that there've been discussions on here about whether that rank is actually your official class rank or just the rank of those from your university who've registered with LSAC, but from an adcomm standpoint, that's the number they're going to see when they open up your file regardless.bhblack wrote:Same, I never sent my class rank either, since I was going to wait until after graduation.
