I'm surprised only two of us on here got held. Dean P, can you perhaps elaborate on what exactly this means. I know you're waiting to compare us to other applicants, but I'm wondering about statistics like is this normally a good sign bad sign etc....? Thanks!

At this point in the admissions cycle I have reviewed less than 10% of our total applicant pool. Being placed on "Hold" means that I like your file, I think that you can do the work and be a successful student here at Illinois, but I want to get a better sense of what the whole pool will look like. I will look at applicants on Hold again in about 5 weeks, at which point I will have reviewed half of the pool. At that point in time I will either admit, deny or wait list. Last year, held files were divided fairly evenly into those 3 decisions after the second review.

I've got a question for Dean Pless or anyone who might have an answer. My status checker just changed to "File Complete, Not in Review." However, I retook the LSAT in December, and thus obviously do not yet have a score for that test. I do have my old score, from September, which I imagine has already made its way to Illinois. But I thought the file would not go to complete until scores from outstanding tests were received. I just want to make sure Illinois knows my December score is headed their way. Anyone experience anything similar? Should I assume Illinois knows the score is coming despite the complete status, or should I attempt to reach out? Any responses will be much appreciated.

Normally we will hold files until the new score comes in. Send us an email and we can check to see what is going on with your application.

I'm a Spartan. My team has been knocked out of the tournament two of the last three years, and I've watched four losses to UNC in my time at Michigan State. UNC exists as the bane of my existence. Pretty much. UNC and OSU/Penn State (for football).
