Re: In at Rutgers Newark!!!
understandably. but is that because r-n are just less interested in the philly market than camden students, or do philly firms prefer camden over newark. Also, i didnt apply to camden, so i just want to know if r-n grads pace in philly, obviously other schools place better. But will i get offers?

Apologies for not knowing your history. How stupid of me. Philly firms do not recruit heavily at Newark. However, if you hit the pavement, get a summer gig in philly, and rank well in your class, you shouldn't have a problem. Oops, am I being obvious again? If you want BigLaw in Philly... You need to attend the Rutgers-Camden campus and place in the top 10% of your class... Anything else, do at your own risk.skamanindc wrote:finally got waitlisted at Fordham, it looks like I'll end up at Rutgers. Anyone know how rutgers grads place in philly law firms? Also, can we negotiate the scholarship offer and perhaps get more out of them?

whoa, relax there. no one attacked you. i was just fleshing out my question, which was can you get Philly jobs coming out of N. I understand Camden has more students practicing in philly, but thats bc they are right across the river. On R-N's creer services website, a number oh Philly firms were listed on the OCI list. My concern, or question rather, was will you only get the opportunity to get a summer gig in those firm's ny offices or are the philly offices open to r-n students as well.

From what I understand almost if not all all firms that recruit at the Neward campus NYC and Jersey based... If you really want to work in Philly, switch to the Camden campus... I'm sure they will allow you to make the trade.skamanindc wrote:LolaSmile wrote:Apologies for not knowing your history. How stupid of me. Philly firms do not recruit heavily at Newark. This has nothing to do with this thread and for that I apologize, but I must know--KosovasLostSon wrote: From what I understand almost if not all all firms that recruit at the Neward campus NYC and Jersey based... Kosovas, do you find yourself typing Neward often? I'm not trying to be an ass. I actually often find myself typing Neward when I should be typing Newark. I know how to spell Newark and I'm an accurate and fast typist. I have no clue why I keep typing Neward, so I was just curious if this was a one-time thing or if you, too, find yourself typing Neward with no apparent explanation why. Something about the proximity of the keys? I don't know. Anyway, sorry to hijack but I wanted to satisfy my curiosity.

But there are several philly-based firms on the R-N OCI list (pepper hamilton, fox rothchid, etc) true, those firms all have ny offices but they are philly based. Unfortunately, camden is not an option, for family reasons i do need be in the ny area for the next 3 yrs.

Yeah I just got accepted to the MSP program too, not exactly sure what all it entails but it sounded like a good idea.

Just got into the MSP, but I doubt I'd do it. 2 weeks in dorm-style housing with a roommate?
No thanks!

The Minority Student Program is a post-admissions program that provides mentoring, internships, and academic support to students who, regardless of race or ethnic origin, can demonstrate disadvantage through a history of socio-economic, educational, cultural, or other disadvantage.
I read over the housing email too quickly btw. The dorm-housing is only if you are living off-campus and need a place in the area during the program. If you are living in university housing, you get to move in early.

What is MSP? I understnad it's a post admissions program that provides mentoring, internships.....whatever! Is it only for a week, a semester, all 3 years.magnumxlv wrote:From the site:maxima099 wrote:what do you do for 2 weeks in dorm-style housing? whats the MSP supposed to do for you?magnumxlv wrote:Just got into the MSP, but I doubt I'd do it. 2 weeks in dorm-style housing with a roommate?

What do you have to do for the 2 weeks in the dorm? Are there more requirements during school? Are there additinal classes required?

I believe if you wanted to be considered for the MSP, you had to indicate so on the application.dapoetic1 wrote: What is MSP? I understnad it's a post admissions program that provides mentoring, internships.....whatever! Is it only for a week, a semester, all 3 years.
