Re: UCLA Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
I just got accepted gpa< 25 LSAT> 75
The dean literally just called me and was like, "hey, you're in. we'll send you a letter soon." nothing formal at all.

Just got the call! Slightly above both 75ths. Very excited about the school and some of the programs. Waiting on Epstein info!

Got the call this afternoon! LSAT >75th, international degree, so no GPA calculated by LSAC. Went complete on 11/4, CA resident, no optional essays.

Man, I really wish I would get some news. UCLA is my first or second choice and I wrote the contribution optional essay + diversity statement.
It looks like everyone reporting has >75% LSAT so maybe I'm not getting any news because I'm closer to median.

Dean Schwartz said it would likely be late January when we hear about Epstein. And then he said probably a bit later than that for most scholarships.lazarzhr wrote:Any idea when we might be hearing back re: Epstein decisions?dmc1275 wrote:Just got the call! Went complete 11/22 and have yet to hear anything. Seems like UCLA has a fast turn around for admits so I have a feeling I'm either waitlisted or denied (not sure why because I'm above 75 GPA and at median LSAT). Nonetheless, I didn't submit a 'Why UCLA' with my application- thoughts on sending one in now and hoping to be reconsidered if they've already made a decision on my application?

I applied around 10/18ish and haven't heard anything either. I'm not above their 75th, but I am from New York and probably should've written a why UCLA. But I do think that if they made a decision on your app already you'd know it so if you want to add one you should.act0491 wrote:Went complete 11/22 and have yet to hear anything. I don't think you need to worry yet. I went complete on 11/4 and was just accepted 2 days ago. FWIW I didn't submit a "Why UCLA" either. Good luck!act0491 wrote:Went complete 11/22 and have yet to hear anything. I think it's only for a few candidates. I was asked about my university and what made me move to the US etc., so I think my foreign background played a role in requiring an interview.Helioze wrote:cakerusk wrote:In via email! Anyone who applied for Distinguished Scholars hear back about plain old admission yet? I know they start interviewing in the new year for the program. Still trying to figure out if that's holding things up or if there's something glaringly wrong with my app. Complete since 10/26 and radio silence

Yes--I applied for Distinguished Scholars, and heard back last week. Went complete mid November. Dean Schwartz said that we would be hearing about Distinguished Scholars in early February, but they are making admissions decisions separately from this process.lawlzschool wrote:Anyone who applied for Distinguished Scholars hear back about plain old admission yet? What does everyone mean "Why UCLA"? I thought there was only one optional essay for programmatic contribution or something.

Why UCLA would be an addendum that you'd submit via upload.

Accepted today! Found out via an email titled "UCLA Law - Info. for Admitted Students." Until then, I didn't even know I had been admitted and did a double take, lol.
Went complete on 11/15. GPA = not calculated (foreign undergrad); LSAT > 75th; wrote a "Why UCLA?" essay.
