Although I have other reasoning to go into my Why Berkeley essay, can I mention that my dad visited the school in his twenties and always dreamed of going there but couldn't afford it, and that this is part of why I am interested in the school? Or should the essay just focus on me personally?

I don't think you should harp on this. Maybe you can say a line that you first became interested in it due to your dad's dreams, but then became interested for x y z.kpadoreo wrote:Although I have other reasoning to go into my Why Berkeley essay, can I mention that my dad visited the school in his twenties and always dreamed of going there but couldn't afford it, and that this is part of why I am interested in the school? edit- maybe just like an intro sentence saying, "i first learned about Berkeley law from my father, who xyz..."

Thanks! Was very surprised myself by the call after all the email admits. Dean Tom said my status checker won't change and packet won't be sent until after January 3rd, but that he wanted to call today so I could know before break. Hope other folks hear soon too!dietcoke1 wrote:congrats! I guess they are not done admitting people via phone callsdmc1275 wrote:In via phonecall! Stats on lsn with same username. Have people received any scholarship offers yet? I gather that since they are doing away with the matching program those funds are just going straight into the scholarships they offer off the bat.

Re: UC Berkeley School of Law C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
last year I applied 12/3 and was UR 12/21. This year I applied 11/22 and am still not UR
edit: now under review
would be so cool to get in after my traumatic attempt at law school applications last year. Last year I felt so unconfident and unqualified and this year has been going well so far. Also, California <3 I visited my friend who attended earlier this year and loved it so much.

edit: now under review

Got Admin. Packet in the mail yesterday. Apparently merit based scholarships come out Feb-March. Also did anyone get the info as to how to log into the Cal website/admitted students ?

Just got accepted!
Go Bears.
No phone call though. Where's the love Berkeley?
If helpful - LSAT >75, GPA 25-50. Wrote a "Why Berkeley?", specialized personal statement. 3 years Wall Street work experience.

Checking in. My status checker says that Berkeley received my application on the 12/8, however, it hasn't change to complete yet although all the materials have a checkmark. Should I be worried about this or is it normal for Berkeley to move straight from received to UR?

It took me almost a week after everything was marked received for my status checker to change to "complete". They will email you once you go UR.Daydreamer15 wrote:Checking in. Wao but its 12/21 (13 days) and still no "complete" status. I will call just to make sure everything is fine I guess.Leliana wrote:It took me almost a week after everything was marked received for my status checker to change to "complete". I have the same timeline as you. Just got the email saying it's now under review. Should I expect a response after Jan 3? Or would I be a third wave?bleakchimera2 wrote:I submitted 11/23, complete 11/28, no under review email yet.
