Anyone's status checker update today / get accepted? I know they're supposed to be updated daily but mine is still stuck at "Updated Nov 11"

I didn't know it was supposed to update daily, mine says last updated the 11th as well, maybe on the weekends it updates a little slower

Mine was updated on Nov 11 as well. While I've heard people on TLS say it's supposed to update daily, the website only says that it is updated "several times a week," so I don't think it's an issue.

I just did the why Mich? I didn't do a DS but half of my PS could've been a DS. Accepted earlier this week.Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:Anyone write 2 of the optional essays, or just the Why Mich?

So, the application says the optional essays should be about one page, but no more than two. Did anyone write at least a page long for an essay? My first essay is exactly a page. My second essay is my Why Michigan, but I have a lot to say about why I want Michigan and wonder if it's a bad idea to actually write two pages.

No personal knowledge of this but someone I know who is currently a student at Mich told me that they really like to see ppl who WANT to be at Mich so I can't imagine writing 2 pages would be a bad thing unless it's repetitive/not well-written/things of that nature.studyingeveryday wrote:So, the application says the optional essays should be about one page, but no more than two. I wrote 1.5 pages for both the diversity statement and Why Mich essay! I'm sure as long as you don't go over two pages, you should be finestudyingeveryday wrote:So, the application says the optional essays should be about one page, but no more than two. "The response to the shock has been to turn campuses into kindergarten. The University of Michigan Law School announced a ”post-election self-care” event with “food and play,” including “coloring sheets, play dough [sic], positive card-making, Legos and bubbles with your fellow law students.” (Embarrassed by the attention, UM Law scrubbed the announcement from its website, perhaps concerned that people would wonder if its graduates would require Legos and bubbles in the event of stressful litigation.)"

Re: Michigan c/o 2020 applicants (2016-17)
While I get that law students/future lawyers/lawyers need to be able to deal with stress and things not going your way...is it really so bad that a university is encouraging students to take care of themselves? Especially considering "self care" is somewhat of a lost art, especially in the legal field. Taking care of one's self is IMPORTANT and crucial to producing good work...I think it's ridiculous that we should look down on those who make an effort to do so, no matter what form that care may take.LibertyKoko wrote:"The response to the shock has been to turn campuses into kindergarten. I get the sentiment, but I also partially blame stuff like this on rising school costs. However, I am fond of Legos, which are stupid expensive, so maybe it's cheaper to play with them this way?airwrecka wrote:While I get that law students/future lawyers/lawyers need to be able to deal with stress and things not going your way...is it really so bad that a university is encouraging students to take care of themselves? Hahaha it probably is much cheaper to play with them this way! Or you can go to Minnesota and hang out at the Lego store at the Mall of America all the timepoptart123 wrote:

Also, though--I would think that rising administrative/bureaucracy costs are much more to blame for rising tuition than self-care activities!

I normally hate this kind of stuff, but this election is something else entirely. I need some play dough, a coloring book, and a Xanax.LibertyKoko wrote:"The response to the shock has been to turn campuses into kindergarten. Thanks to those who answered my question before! I'm keeping my Why Michigan to two pages.
Another question: the resume guidelines say to state what your plans are from graduating until you begin law school. On the page after my resume, should I just write a few sentences stating my plans? I'm not quite sure how to put that in my actual resume without actually having a job yet.

I kept my resume to one page, and at the end (after listing my language & interests) I just put another bullet point and wrote one sentence on my future plans lolstudyingeveryday wrote:Thanks to those who answered my question before! I'm keeping my Why Michigan to two pages.
