Updates and interview requests are not decisions. Those will come electronically (status checker/email). Notification of acceptance/denial would come in the mail, though. Perhaps ED is different (the only people who have heard back so far).canafsa wrote:The Columbia website says that admission decisions are solely through the mail. Is that not true? How are people receiving updates/interview requests/offers?

For the ED people who were admitted today, when did you apply? Did you interview? Applied in mid October and interviewed last week, so was just wondering. Thanks!

Do you think they reject over mail too?

Thank you for your response, it has been really helpful, wish you luck!airwrecka wrote:It will be almost 20 minutes exactly, maybe a little longer if you have lots of questions. My interview was very specific to me, so be prepared to talk extensively about anything on your application!oliviaj_j wrote:I have my interview scheduled for tomorrow, and really nervous because I think I'm one of those borderline applicants!
Is interview really shorter than 20 minutes? Does interviewer ask a lot of interviewee-specific questions like something on their PS, resume etc?
LSAT=75th, GPA<25th, international student.

Is being interviewed a necessary condition for being accepted? Or are some people accepted without an interview? Also, of those they interview, how many do they tend to accept?

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
I just have finished my interview!! Do I have to write a thank-you letter? I know the interviewer's name but I don't know her email address, and of course I can look into their website and might find it but I don't want to look like I'm stalking her, but I don't want to seem rude by not sending her a thank-you letter when everybody else is sending it... Please is there anyone that can help me with this?

I sent a physical letter to [interviewer's name] at the CLS Admissions Office address. Just looked it up online.oliviaj_j wrote:I just have finished my interview!! Would any of the ED admits mind posting the dates for the admitted students' weekends? Thanks!

Regarding whether admission decisions will be sent via post or email: My interviewer said they will send both, however I'm not sure if this is because I am living abroad, or if they will do so for every applicant.
The "What to Expect When You're Expecting" thread listed mail as the way of learning of acceptance but also said that some ppl reported receiving emails as well.

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
Had the interview today. It went well, I think! As others have said, it was very personalized to my application. She had specific details in mind that she wanted to ask about, which was a nice touch and made the conversation flow pretty comfortably. She left about 5 minutes for questions, and she was very interested in making the case for Columbia. Judging by that, I think the interview program is at least partially a recruitment tool. Not sure when we'll hear back, but my money is on January.

Got an interview request yesterday morning...not sure how to take it. LSAT > 75th, GPA >>> 75%. Am a bit of unique applicant because of engineering background (what I wrote my PS about). Should I be unnerved by this?

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
I was wondering about that. Struck me as odd that Columbia's LSATs went up despite most top 14s holding serve.curry1 wrote:Thelaw23 wrote:Guys, what's a hammy or a butler?
hamilton = full tuition
butler = half tuition
you generally have to be well over both 75ths to get a hamilton, on the other hand, Columbia was giving extreme splitters with LSAT'S 174+ Butler's last cycle, which is how they jumped their LSAT numbers so much.
Columbia's my top choice and I have a 171 (w/ above median GPA), I wonder how/if it's going to affect my decision.

Ok, do they see your face? I'm trying to figure out if I need to dress up.potterotter wrote:Its over Skype Business, so watch out for that. They will send you an invite, you accept and then at the bottom of the invite is a link to a conference call for you to go to.
