If they can see, then it would be good to check regularly to show interest, but not too often (in case they actually look).

There must be some writing that your academic adviser supervised during your UG. You should be able to put that in.ikethegremlin wrote:To me this is the part that stopped me from putting anything in: "under the supervision of an academic advisor or professional editor". Sadly no. I was very close to my academic advisor but we talked primarily about choice of classes, career paths, life in general - I never did a senior thesis or anything that would have required her input on a piece of writing.appind wrote:There must be some writing that your academic adviser supervised during your UG. Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Just thought I'd put in my experience from last year. I submitted about this time last year (in fact I think it's been exactly a year, oddly enough). I got my JS1 about 2 weeks later and my JS2 the first day they were doing admits (informative humble brag). Pretty sure you can still apply few the next few weeks and have an equal shot at 1st day admit as anyone else.ikethegremlin wrote:Lower your expectations to 'sometime before Christmas' and you'll be less likely to be disappointed!lawschoolplease1 wrote:RunnerRunner wrote:It'll depend on the volume of early applications, but you still have a shot at an early JS1: looking at the google doc from last year's applicants thread there are a few that submitted in early October and got accepted in late November. One I am looking at submitted 10/2, went complete 10/14, got a JS1 invite 10/18, had a JS1 interview 10/31, and was accepted 11/26.lawschoolplease1 wrote:for those of us who just submitted our applications, are we too late for js1?you kinda just made my day.

looks like they're not accepting Feb LSAT scores like last year. I guess that was a special circumstance

I'm fairly sure they didn't announce they were going to take February LSATs this early last year, but I could be wrong.dreamerchic19 wrote:looks like they're not accepting Feb LSAT scores like last year. I guess that was a special circumstance

Yeah they didn't announce it until wait time for the December score. I could go back and try to find the exact date but I'm way too lazy for that.

They claimed that they wanted to accommodate December takers who missed due to weather cancellations, but I think they were just looking to shore up their medians.bound wrote:Nonconsecutive wrote:I'm fairly sure they didn't announce they were going to take February LSATs this early last year, but I could be wrong.dreamerchic19 wrote:looks like they're not accepting Feb LSAT scores like last year. Quick question, do they rotate the Admissions panel or are the same people reviewing applications each cycle

I think it's the same every year. There was a blog post about the staff last year. http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/admissions/dreamerchic19 wrote:Quick question, do they rotate the Admissions panel or are the same people reviewing applications each cycle
Also, if you haven't submitted your app already, definitely check out the Yale blog. The stuff with Asha is extremely insightful. If you have submitted your app, don't look at it, as you'll immediately regret sending in your early application like I did. http://blogs.law.yale.edu/blogs/admissi ... fault.aspx

Its also worth noting that HLS has a faculty review panel, a lot of peeps don't seem to know this so I just figured I would share.HorseThief wrote:I think it's the same every year. Really? Do you know how that works? I feel like I have a handle on Yale's process (black boxy though it may be) but never really knew what steps a Harvard application goes through between complete and JS1.Nonconsecutive wrote:Its also worth noting that HLS has a faculty review panel, a lot of peeps don't seem to know this so I just figured I would share.HorseThief wrote:I think it's the same every year. Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Sadly I can't give much details, I didn't even know about it until after I was admitted. Perhaps someone with more knowledge can comment on the exact process, but from what I got its actually fairly similar to Yale's in that it requires a certain number of faculty votes for a definite "Admit" then there is a grey area of "Lets look again later" and then there are the definite "Deny" applications. Of course you need to make it past the admissions staff before you even get to the faculty (again, from my understanding).RunnerRunner wrote:Really? Do you know how that works? I have it on a very, very good source that the faculty review operates at least similarly to Yale's, but can't offer much beyond that since I don't want to guess on such things.

Fair enough, and that's actually a lot more clarity than I expected, thanks for the response!

Does anyone have link of all of the JS1 talk? I've seen a few detailed posts here and there, but they are few and far between. I'm curious how those interviews go.

Though this was back when it was JS and KB, I know KB is gone now.

Definitely not today (the offices are closed). Should be soon, though*.xylocarp wrote:I wonder if JS1's will be coming out any time soon
*I have no idea what I'm talking about, it just seems like they should be interviewing people**.
**Okay, I went back and looked at my JS1 e-mail, and it came on the equivalent of this Friday. And for extra fun, I still have access to their interview scheduling calendar. They have no open dates yet, but I bet that'll change this week.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
