Got my scholarship e-mail today. In-state tuition + $15K/year with 2.9 stip. Not bad, considering I thought UH was more stingy.

Stats? And congrats, I was expecting something more like that.

Does anyone know if UH negotiates much?

Nope-- sent an email trying to negotiate and got the following response:

"Thank you for your interest in the University of Houston Law Center. The committee was impressed with your credentials and hopes to see you in our entering class. Our scholarship committee has awarded scholarships generously this year and is not adjusting scholarships at this point in our cycle. However, we may review scholarships later in the spring and summer if more money becomes available.

Recently the UH Law Center was once again named a “go-to” law school by the National Law Journal for having one of the largest percentages of students who are hired by the nation’s largest 250 law firms. Can confirm. I tried with UH, and was politely declined in a similar manner.

It's worth noting a professor there suggested I negotiate though.

The last decision update on LSN was 2/17. I think UH is taking spring break this coming week, as well. I wonder if we are in for a few more weeks of waiting.

Indiana offered me a pretty good scholarship. Indiana is ranked 25th. Do y'all think I can get Houston to increase their original offer they gave me?

I haven't been accepted. I just put my numbers hoping maybe someone in the same area would reply. My fault for not being specific enough

You can try, but I doubt they'll budge much both because they're UH (known for being tight and inflexible) and because they can point to the fact that their employment numbers are significantly better than Indiana's.

You can try, but I doubt they'll budge much both because they're UH (known for being tight and inflexible) and because they can point to the fact that their employment numbers are significantly better than Indiana's.

I would be surprised if UH doesn't move up in rankings. Employment numbers really are stellar for it to be at the lower end of T1.

With the drop in Houston's rank some people may impulse withdraw. Even so, if you're set on working in Houston, I think UH may be your best choice after UT. UH's employment numbers are great for its rank. I think being waitlisted at this point in time is a good sign TBH.

Does anyone know which metric(s) Houston seems to fail at? I mean, comparing Houston to a school like Wisconsin who was 33 last year and even higher this year, Houston's LST numbers are clearly superior. Yet rankings-wise they aren't even in the same tier anymore. Why is this the case!!
