Can confirm. I tried with UH, and was politely declined in a similar manner.cberg wrote:Nope-- sent an email trying to negotiate and got the following response:AT9 wrote:Thanks! I'm 163/3.8x.Attax wrote:Stats? And congrats, I was expecting something more like that.AT9 wrote:Got my scholarship e-mail today. In-state tuition + $15K/year with 2.9 stip. Not bad, considering I thought UH was more stingy.
Does anyone know if UH negotiates much?
"Thank you for your interest in the University of Houston Law Center. The committee was impressed with your credentials and hopes to see you in our entering class. Our scholarship committee has awarded scholarships generously this year and is not adjusting scholarships at this point in our cycle. However, we may review scholarships later in the spring and summer if more money becomes available.
As you know, we offer one of the largest course curriculums in the country, and our location in one of the country’s largest and most robust legal markets means our students are well-placed to begin their careers. Recently the UH Law Center was once again named a “go-to” law school by the National Law Journal for having one of the largest percentages of students who are hired by the nation’s largest 250 law firms. Our strong ties to the legal community also allows us to have some of the country’s top attorneys come to campus to teach specialized and practice skills courses and coach our winning mock trial and moot court teams. Further, the city of Houston has a cost-of-living that is lower than almost any other major U.S. city, which makes Houston a great place to earn a law degree. We hope that you will continue to consider the Law Center and our relatively low cost-of-attendance versus the quality of education and opportunities. For more information please visit http://www.law.uh.edu/admissions/apply-now.asp.
If you have not already visited the campus, I invite you to attend one of our upcoming events or schedule an individual visit. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you!"
It's worth noting a professor there suggested I negotiate though.

Congrats! Full ride from UH is no small task. Those numbers probably qualify for $$$ at UT and T14 as well.

No, they haven't even given me scholarship info. How do you know when you receive it? Email or letter? And how long was it between acceptance and your award notice?rion91 wrote:Anyone gotten a full ride? >75 for both GPA and LSAT as a URM

The last decision update on LSN was 2/17.
I think UH is taking spring break this coming week, as well. I wonder if we are in for a few more weeks of waiting.

Indiana offered me a pretty good scholarship. Indiana is ranked 25th. Do y'all think I can get Houston to increase their original offer they gave me?

I haven't been accepted. I just put my numbers hoping maybe someone in the same area would reply. My fault for not being specific enoughuvandy wrote:Congrats! Full ride from UH is no small task. Those numbers probably qualify for $$$ at UT and T14 as well.

You can try, but I doubt they'll budge much both because they're UH (known for being tight and inflexible) and because they can point to the fact that their employment numbers are significantly better than Indiana's.life2323 wrote:Indiana offered me a pretty good scholarship. I would be surprised if UH doesn't move up in rankings. Employment numbers really are stellar for it to be at the lower end of T1.BVest wrote:You can try, but I doubt they'll budge much both because they're UH (known for being tight and inflexible) and because they can point to the fact that their employment numbers are significantly better than Indiana's.life2323 wrote:Indiana offered me a pretty good scholarship. Re: Houston c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
With the drop in Houston's rank some people may impulse withdraw. Even so, if you're set on working in Houston, I think UH may be your best choice after UT. UH's employment numbers are great for its rank. I think being waitlisted at this point in time is a good sign TBH.healthyman wrote:Rion91, I am a reverse splitter and a URM . EDIT: See LSN. http://houston.lawschoolnumbers.com/applicants Sort by Status and you'll see how many people were waitlisted vs. admitted/pending.

Re: Houston c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 Cycle)
Does anyone know which metric(s) Houston seems to fail at? I mean, comparing Houston to a school like Wisconsin who was 33 last year and even higher this year, Houston's LST numbers are clearly superior. Yet rankings-wise they aren't even in the same tier anymore. Why is this the case!!rion91 wrote:With the drop in Houston's rank some people may impulse withdraw.
